The OP never clarified whether or not the ex was attempting this using actual legal means to and I'm too lazy to look up the laws in CA concerning child support obligations, but if it's 18 (like most states), I would've laughed in the bitch's face and told her to go pound sand.

Deal with the kid, not mom. Tell him you'll match his salary up to $X for time period Y. Tell him you'll help with rent up to $Z for time period Q. Get that controller out of his hands. Get him off his ass.

I live in CA and she lives in MN, I got a call from some claims person (forget her exact title) about support on my answering machine, so I think she is going to request extended support because she is claiming he is disabled due to obesity. Sounds like me at that age.

However I spent it indoor playing piano all day long.

Now it's my career (and a very good one at that). I was fat until about 18 (now 27 and people always come to me for fitness advice) when I made a personal choice to make my health a priority, but that's something that comes with age.

Get the kid into music if you can. It's cheaper than therapy and he doesn't have to go outdoors if he's not comfortable. And it can really pay off in the long run.
