Need romantic suggestions....
Hey guys...
So, I want to do something incredibly romantic for my girlfriend before I leave for basic. I don't have any money to speak of right now, so it has to be free or cheap, not counting gas money to get there. Suggestions? |

PIITB!!
j/k Free: Give her a full body massage. Maybe some candles Cheap: Make her a nice dinner. Maybe get some wine. You could make a pasta dish with a salad for an appetizer, some italian bread, some cheap wine, for not that much.. Maybe pick up or make a desert. Maybe have some candles, some chill music. Put on a shirt and tie too, that always is impressive..

Another free one (seeing that you're in LA) - Long walk on the beach, through a state part, etc. Hang out and talk for a while about crap. Throw rocks at the water, trees, people...

Make her dinner. It's cheaper then a restaurant, and making dinner together can be romantic. Set up the place nice, candles and whatnot, and dress up.

Depending on your access level to her bedroom, any florist chain will give you BAGS of rose petals that you can sprinkle on/around her bed. If you go with the dinner routine and that is an expectation, you could make up your room that way.

I like the cook dinner yourself idea but,
try not to go the italian route as that is the most clichee thing to do... making Pasta is not impressive.. u might as well pour cereal or make an egg :/ read up some good recipes online for a good chicken or steak (right herbs and spices and what not)... way more impressive... remember, girls know how to cook, and they know how much effort is put in..

isn't it called bootcamp for the marines rather than basic? i know it's the same but i also know marines are sticklers about terminology, ie: they refer to themselves as marines rather than soldiers.
anyway.. i second the romantic dinner idea. and cooking pasta is relatively easy if you've done a couple times already. garlic bread is easy too, just keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn. salad, duh. if you know how cook, a small chicken parm would fit nicely with a side of pasta. get some candles, sweet music, and make it a semi formal night. i think your girl would love it. it's the effort that counts more than the money spent. |

Here's a date I haven't done since college:
Cook her a nice meal and share a nice bottle of wine/favorite beverage. Go to a nice secluded park/outdoors area that allows open fires. start campfire, make smores, and enjoye the view/each other you need to prepare a bit - i.e have campfie marterials ready to go - a duraflame + kindling works like a charm. Dinner prep is also required. Relatively cheap to do, but planning ahead is key and she will be sure to appreciate it.
