Formula E, Miami. First race ever in the States
First off, let me say... This is definitely the future of racing.
I wanted to share my awesome experience with you guys... So, my wife got us tickets to go see the first ever Formula E race, in the States. All I can say is: WOW, we had a blast. We got down to the area around 8:30 am and spent the whole day there; watching the practice runs, all four qualifying rounds, and of course... The race. It was a well put on event, lots of stuff to see and do; there were food trucks, sponsor tents (including BMW), FIA booths; a really neat thing. Alll of the cars are build by Renault; they're powered by a 264hp engine, they do 0-100 in 3 seconds, and max out speed around 124mph. My wife and I camped up in a turn to see all the action, and we were not let down. What I gathered from the drivers downshifts into the turns, the transmissions are either 6-8 gears. Having followed Scott Speed in NASCAR over the years, naturally he was my boy in this race. He was only signed on by the Andretti team as a fill-in for this race, I have a suspicion after him moving up from the 11 spot to finishing 2nd of 20, somebody will pick him up! On to the pics, I will post vids tomorrow American, Scott Speed The winner: Sponsor, Rimac Automobili Sponsor and Safety Car: The city of Miami blocked off

First lap of the race around 4pm:
Track practice before the race around 11am: About 20 min before the race, the drivers do 1 final lap and wave to all the fans: Before the race, the i8 Safety Car was moving around the track. Several passes with both engines pushing, and a few with all electric driving: Last edited by nbennettksu; 03-15-2015 at 03:44 PM.. |
