W8 anyone?

Anyone have any experience with VW's W8? Buddy is selling his wagon, and I'm trying hard not to give in and buy it. Brain says to stay away, but AWD W8 wagon wants me to say yes! From what I've read and understand, when things go wrong they get really expensive really fast. But W8 wagon.

I love them too and they can also be had in a manual but a rare, older VW doesn't sound like a cheap proposition.

Worst car ever, had the lowest reliability among all B5/B5.5. Passats. Replacing the timing chain requires taking out the motor. Absolutely no space to work under the hood. German, AWD, 6 speed, v8 make it a great car on paper but crap in real life. This coming from a former VW owner. You're better off getting a Phaeton lol.

Friend's dad has one...seems to always have an issue unfortunately. Awesome car otherwise!

Some cars, the idea to own is so romantic, but the reality is just too scary to bear.

The 6mt W8 wagon is one of those cars. It some how manages to scare me even more than a B5 S4 Avant. The Avant has a better aftermarket and some of its weaknesses like the OEM turbos are remedied once while the W8 is a nightmare no matter what you do to it.
