MINI brand sets new December record
BMW Motorcycle sales up 5.4 percent

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – January 5, 2015… The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported December sales of 48,141 vehicles, an increase of 9.5% percent from the 43,981 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. “The record result in 2014 for BMW proves that solid growth is still possible when you have the right products that provide good value for the customer,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “The increases across the BMW line make us optimistic about what’s possible in 2015. I am also very glad to see that MINI set a new sales record in December and I have no doubt MINI will have a great year now that the new models are becoming available.”

What's going on with MINI sales? Are they that bad or just too expensive for the market?

If you notice, most of the attention is for the New Hardtop... The rest are kinda aging thats why..

And to think people were complaining about all those down months BMW had in 2014. While the US market is important, I would like to see worldwide sales which I think is a lot more important and critical.

They took the sales crown back from Merc as well. Meanwhile, Caddy sales drop 6.5% for the entire year from 2013. They better hope their "exclusivity" plan works.

That "exclusivity" talk is all bull, something to say to boost morale but at the end of the day, it means nothing. Cadillac is competing an a market/segment where a product is easily attainable by the mass majority. Cadillac prices are competitive with those of the Germans, definitely not any more expensive so saying you want exclusivity is an excuse for not being able to sell cars like the ATS which were highly and justifiably hyped and praised. At the end of the day, regardless of reason, you don't have a product that is compelling enough to buy.

Rolls Royce can make exclusivity argument because it's only attainable by the one percent while being outsold by Bentley.

If you look at the total data for year vs year, mini had 10000 less units sold in 2014 vs 2013. Not really a good year if you ask me. I really like MINI, I'd like to see them do better.

Despite the growth vs. prior year it is noticeable some trouble spots like the Mini brand. Moreover the 3 and i3 fueled almost 100% of the growth with all other series except for the X5 being down. Tough competition for sure.
