Thats exactly what all the tire retailers have been telling me and I've been telling them that just aint true.

OEM "COULD" last longer, but they usually do not put 100,000 sets of 70k tires at the factory, when they can save the $$$.

Ive never seen OEM tires last more than 40k

If they are 'star' marked approved tires, they will be to BMW specification, so the same tires.

I'm surprised at the high mileage that appears to be expected on OEM tires.

We don't get the high figures in the UK from any decent high performance tire, 20k miles is very good for average use. Most tyres over here which will return high mileage would be laughed at as "ditch finders", due to the poor performance.

BTW, it is not particularly a run-flat issue either, virtually all our performance tires will last similar mileage, the better the tire performance the faster they typically wear.

I don't have high performance tires - my sDrive X1 has 17's, and came with Goodyears. Have almost reached 32K miles and just had one tire repaired (not at dealer) for a small screw in the middle of the tread. They told me my tires looked fine and had at least another 10K in them. So that would take me over 40K.

Actually I'm psychologically ready to replace them, but I'll get some more life out of them, sure.

that about 1/2 (at 40k) the life of a high mileage tire you can get to replace them.

No. My rear end lasts 6k to 9k on PSS. I've gone thru two sets. In fact my p zeros lasted 8k. It was much worse with my 2011dct over my 2013 6MT. I always drove in the firmest DCT shifting and I'm pretty sure that didn't help things at all.

I'm a heavy foot. 0- speed limit every day!
