Price is one thing that you can use to base cars, but you can also use size/performance as other factors. Just look at Cadillac constantly comparing the CTS to a 5 series when most of us would see it as a 3 series competitor. In terms of size, its very close to the 5, if I remember correctly, but price wise its close to the 3.
Yea I know things can change ... but if you guys compare the 335i to S4 and 328i to 2.0T where does that leave the V6 A4?

throwing the CTS in mix doesnt work as first cars are compared by size then price ... the 3 series will always compete with the A/S/RS Audi Series and Lexus' IS Series, Infiniti's G series and MB C-Class. So comparing models with in those they should be based on price. Dont get me wrong I 100% understand why the 335i is compared to the S4/S5 ... For magazines to sell they need interesting articles and for the article to be interesting the comparisons need to be close there for if they compared like they did when the B5 S4 was around the new B7 S4 would get killed by the new E92 M3 in turn making readers be like "no shit thats a lame comparison".

I know back in the day in Europe they use to compare the B5 RS4 Avant to CSL so thats why I still say its compared to that. Also during that time the S4 was compared to the M3, and so on.

I'm also not a BMW fan boy trying to make it look like BMW dominates but it does compared to its major competitors. Im a performance guy hands down ... since the 335i dominates its price equivalents I bought one. Trust me if Audi had a better performing car for the $$ I would have gotten it.

Going turbo again would make sense from a performance-fuel consumption/emission matrix perspective, otherwise the Germans are going to have a hard time with their cars a future of lower emissions and higher mileage consumption requirements.

But is only speculation, as Audi is reluctant to move away from the V8 already developed to date for the S5 and S4 etc.

Time and time again the compare the 335i to the S4 / S5 and the M3 to the RS4. Personally I agree with you and think it should be 335i vs V6 A4/A5 and M3 vs S4 / S5 and CSL vs RS4
i agree.

I think they are going to try to differentiate the S4 and S5 lines from eachother... it seems like a smart move to me.

It also wouldn't surprise me if they lowered the price a few thousand...maybe base around 46k since the S5 with the V8 comes in at 51k.

I'm sure it would be nice, but pricing would of course be more expensive than the 335i.

It's about time. How much have the audi faithful been calling for a return of the turboed S4? That last turbo s4 was a huge hit.

I wonder what this would mean to the pricing difference between the S4 and S5 (if rumor is true) ?

Audi's are great cars.. but they are always so heavy... even a awd wouldn't help much .. its like a ford truck + awd and a meaty motor
