So why no 918, P1, and LaFerrari magazine comparo yet?
Straight garbage. I get about 14 monthly car magazine subscriptions and no one has compared these yet. Are they scared to lose? Did I miss an issue?

I am sure the manufacturers won't give them a car for a comparo. A magazine will have to get personal cars to make it happen.

The most recent Motor Trend had all three in the same magazine but no comparison.

Typically, it takes months till the comparo hits the newstands. With the final car of the three (LaFerrari) now released, they've only been able to get their hands on all three for a short time now.
That and the fact that they won't have a ton of "press cars" available so everyone can just flog them for comparisons will take time to bring them together. They may also have to go to private owners to drive them in anger beyond the press drives that have already taken place. If it does take place, they'll be testing them now, but won't hit the press for a few months.

I remember the top gear speed week issue had a p1 and 918, but they intentionally left out the lap times for those 2 to reveal at a later date. Maximum trolling from the Brits

EVO just released a comparison between the P1 and 918. You have to be subscribed to the magazine or e-mag app.
Bottom line: 918 can't match the P1 on the straights but it won the overall comparison. No competitive numbers released.

I think that would bridge the gap (at least some on the straights if not all), but either way they said the 918 was the better car to drive and would be faster in the hands of pretty much anyone IIRC. 918 is setting the way for the future of cars while the P1 isnt nearly as impressive a show of a superior, cohesive, technological masterpiece that has been calibrated to perfection. |

The comparison is incredibly difficult to sum up in less than a few paragraphs. Honestly, it's cheating the depth of the article to try and do so. It's more complicated than my initial post made it out to be too. On the road: The 918 is the preferred car due to its fluid drivetrain, perfect gearbox, and screaming engine. Thanks to the car's composure and AWD-style drivetrain, it's less nerve-wracking on public roads whereas the P1 feels like it's almost too much. They make the comparison that a P1 is like a modern-day F40 (with a lot less lag ). The Macca's noises are also intoxicating; a good mixture of turbine drama and mechanical chunter. It's just something that requires some serious driving input. On the track: The 918 is slower on paper for reasons that come down to simple physics, but the level of composure and low speed mechanical grip advantage allows it to carry the same levels of speed as the P1. It has its disadvantages: less eager turn-in, more weight, less downforce. But it sounds like the gearbox and powertrain make up for any downsides. The article's really long. Worth a read.
