The brand "Lexus" was USA only until 2005. They were Japanese Toyota cars re-branded as a luxury line sold in the USA. In 2005 Toyota started selling the brand Lexus in Japan and all over the world. Even though "Lexus" was the luxury line sold in the USA, their Japanese counterparts were far more luxurious.
Example: The SC300/400. In Japan it was 280hp twin turbo i6, or 220hp v8. The V8 model was the luxury line and was offered with TV, 4 wheel steering, active suspension, GPS, an early I-drive type system, folding mirrors, digital/computer dash. In 1991. The likes of those features were not released into the USA until the mid 2000s. Very highly advanced cars. Even in Japan today, a mint 1991 Toyota Soarer GT-L 4.0 sells for over 10 grand. SC = Toyota Soarer IS = Toyota Altezza LS = Toyota Celsior GS = Toyota Aristo ES = Toyota Corolla |

The ES is NOT based on the Corolla but rather on the Camry. |

Similar story with Infiniti and Acura; the North American Acura CSX (ILX now) is the Honda Civic in the rest of the civilised world. Acura TSX is the Accord.
The Infiniti G35/G37 was actually labeled as the Nissan Skyline in Japan.

Just as bad as the ///Mposters and everything alike.
Let's face is, a Lexus Toyota emblem is way better than just a regular Toyota emblem. Makes them feel "richer" at night. |
