Ever been embarrassed by other BMW driver?
Yesterday I was behind a new 3 series at a traffic light, several cars from intersection. Light changed and other cars proceeded but the new 3 series didn't move. I was just about to toot the horn when the driver woke up or put the phone down, whatever. I just made it through the intersection before the light changed again, and a couple cars behind me that should have made it through didn't.
So I thought, fine, that's happened to us all. But after being slow, the new 3 series driver now proceeded to rev the engine and, way above the speed limit, drive in and out of lanes trying to get ahead of all the other traffic. I thought, "Geez, how many other drivers are reciting the 'difference between a porcupine and BMW driver' joke?" I drive an sDrive X1, by the way. Pretty sure that was a 328, so same engine, at least. I try not to be a porcupine when I drive... |

Same here in FL. Idiots come in all types of cars.
However, now that I drive a BMW, I want to think that BMW owners are smart people who enjoy the best driving dynamics and the pleasure of driving. Sadly, I am wrong since most of them are yuppie morons who simply want a status symbol, or worse.

What I have seen repeatedly - now that I'm driving around in a red BMW - is other cars engaging in outrageous maneuvers to pass me and *stick it to the guy in the red bimmer* or whatever they are thinking - while I'm really not doing anything, just flowing with the traffic. The pure presence of a BMW on the road appears to be enough provocation for some drivers in those pocket rockets.

I live in FL as well. The worst drivers on the road by far are males aged 22-50 driving full-sized domestic trucks. Apparently a prerequisite for buying an F250 down here is having a two-inch member.
BMW drivers I see are pretty tame behind the wheel. |

I'm not saying TX drivers are good, but you have an awesome talent pool in your own city. |

I've been purposedly followed(I say this because he followed me through the drive through and didn't order anything) by a guy driving an M3 to a drive through and out onto the streets from the parking lot. The dumbass flipped a quick right out of the parking lot and proceeded to floor it when he was beside me and nearly rear ended a car in front that was changing lanes...it was so close and he was doing at least 70, I was anticipating a death on impact with the M3 and the other car, but fortunately the other driver saw this idiot in time and dove into the ditch. Of course the M3 owner takes off like an idiot without stopping to see if the other drive was ok. I am sure he is on this forum, drives a blue '06 or older M3.

For riding people's bumpers, cutting people off in lanes and jumping curbs I think Tejas takes the cake! |

Not just embarrased, even harrased by another BMW. Had a 530d crawl up my rear bumper, it tried to smoke me at the lights and went in childish mode and just smoke his ass, after that he went into attack the rear bumper road rage mode.

Ha I'm the OP and had a non-Texas related truck incident yesterday. On a freeway undergoing construction there were two lanes and the car pool lane. Two huge passenger trucks - sounded like crude V8s - were side by side, speeds varying but basically well under the speed limit. Cars were backing up behind them, as cars in car pool lane sped by. I realized their windows were open and apparently they were having a conversation.
So finally there was a chance to pass, and I guess they'd looked in the rear view mirror and seen me making faces and uttering oaths because they then drove around me and beside me, making gestures (guess which gesture!). Because what a jerk I was, to be irritated by their selfish, jerk driving and show it! Anyway we merged into a larger freeway and they disappeared. So "Texas drivers" are all over the world... |
