Cobb has not figured out how to tune that car yet. Either Ford stuck a bunch of tuning Nannies in there or Cobb needs to spend more time on it. No way Ford delivers the ST at the ragged edge from the factory without some safety margine to improve on by tuners.

You have to remember they are tuning on a tiny 1.6L engine. A 19wtq gain is quite nice actually. Supporting mods will probably be a must before they can really crank up the boost.

How many here have ever tuned a car? You know, moving fuel and timing curves around, adjusting duty cycles? 2d and 3d mapping? A lot can be going on here.
For a simple remap, unless there is a *lot* of headroom I'm not too surprised. The injector duty cycles could be too tapped to safely push high end power. The turbo also may be far more efficient at lower speeds and can't push enough air (without heating it ) above 5K. A 20 ft-lb bump and better area under the curve is not too shabby for a car that is aggressively tuned from the factory. 230 to the wheels on a 1.6L below 3K? Not bad at all. My old school (no DI, no BB nor dual vane snail) 1.6L BP6 could only muster about 200 to the wheels at 12 PSI at 3K. A fair amount of factory cars using small turbos for low end torque are not pulling hard to redline. Most people don't drive that way. Sure, *we* do...but we are atypical compared to the masses The ST is one hot hatch. Too bad there are so many douche nozzles driving them. Yeah I was younger once in my hot hatch but I didn't drive like an ass. Had one rev and cut me off last night on my Z. <sigh> - b |

What you need is the UK Ford backed Mountune package, it's cheap and takes the it from 180hp to 215hp.
