The shocking thing is that if you look at the times the RS3 is making it as good as the M3 DCT/RS5 at 100km/h and 200km/h. And by all accounts it's probably as quick if not quicker on the track as well.

This 5cyl engine is a rocketship and I hope it sees service throughout the entire Audi range.

How can I break it to you ............. it's all sold out. Now if Audi decide to make more than you might get it over there but only if they change their mind.

At least the 1M isnt all sold out so you can still get it and it's hardly a poor second prize now is it because it's the best looking out of the two.

So how many did they make, 100? Do you think that's a serious commitment or just marketing toy for the Audi fan boys who like to post on bimmer sites?

Last count I heard of was 3700 units and I doubt it's was any more of a marketing toy than the 1M was, frankly I'm just glad that both companies decided to offer the top performance sub-brand to more of the masses.

I think that is his point. If the USA is not getting the RS3 anyway, who cares if it beats it in this one comparo. We have no choice anyway. Even if it was, I am not into the hatch thing anyway, although I am trying to talk my daughter into getting a VW GTI for her first car. BTW, I have a deposit on a 1M.

You guys all think one dimensional, it's the Internet which means there are more people on it than just you lot from America.

As for your choice for your daughter, if she can hold off until the new year there will be a limited edition GTI on sale, the Edition 35 to celebrate the GTI's 35 years in production, it's sweet.

No, I'm annoyed at any manufacturer that won't bring the goods to the big table. It makes me suspiscious when a company which has a major presence in the US won't bring product over that they talking up elsewhere. As much as you want to echo the praise about the RS3 tell me why Audi won't sell it here while BMW will sell the 1M? There's lots of other examples too from BMW (3 series wagon), VW, Mercedes, etc. and the usual excuse is that the US market doesn't want the product, but if the product is - as in this case - that good then it will sell. So where is it?

America is a difficult market to make a profit, especially for a manufacturer that doesn't produce there, so whilst it is annoying for these brands to exclude some examples it is still understandable. BMW see the US market as essential to it's overall sales, especially so the M cars which is why you get almost everything (GTS being one of the exceptions), though not all manufacturer feels the same way. Audi knew the RS3 was being introduced very late in it's life so probably felt their presence in the States wasn't strong enough to warrant offering the RS3 there, I also doubt they expected the demand they have received for the car. My guess is that with RS models being promised earlier on in the production cycle combined with Audi's CEO already stating they need to be strong in America should mean that in the future you will most likely see it's replacement there.
