profile customization

Most everyone who posts a thread or a reply has their customized listing of mods made to their cars, listed on the bottome of their comments.

How do I do that?
I went to settings- customize profile. This seems like the place to do that, but when I try typing in things, it won't save them and has errors.
What is the procedure to do this?
