Portable air compressor... Recommendations?
I've been contemplating buying an air compressor for a while now on "aircompressorsdirect"
The one I'm about to pull the trigger on is a Chicago Pneumatic 2hp, belt drive, vertical 26gal + portable unit. It pumps out 7.1 CFM @ 90psi so it will work well with my assortment of air tools. The reviews from their site although few are pretty positive as well as some reviews I've read on other sites. What are you guys using? I think for the money this is one of the best spec'd portable compressors out there. Anyway just looking for some feedback from some other shade tree mechanics out there. |

You didn't post the most important bit of info, the price. How much you are willing to spend on it?
I have a Porter Cable pancake style compressor, for about $100 it was good deal, the reviews aren't stellar but it worked fine so far. |

5gal... Isn't enough for me. Those work well for nail guns/staplers, filling tires etc. I need volume for die grinders, cut off wheel, impact tools and air ratchets. Thanks for your input though. |

FWIW I've never had a problem running any of my impact drivers or air tools on a pancake unless you are one of those that doesn't like waiting on it to build the pressure back. I usually run my impacts on a 2.6gal 2hp Makita actually because it's the easiest to carry around.
