Also, there is a mode to lower (or raise) the car an inch or so (changing suspension). But if it were any lower it wouldn't make it up our driveway.

The interior of the new SL is a huge improvement. It's beautiful.
The exterior on the other hand.... I don't know what MB was thinking. The front end looks squished and the roof line is too low. It's an odd looking car. The outgoing SL looks much more better, IMO. |

This current SL looks downright hideous. It no longer looks like a $100k+ car (whereas the outgoing SL has the "presence" of a $100k-$140k car). |

Mercedes butchered the new SL and for the life of me I don't understand why the rear of this car looks basically untouched from the previous model? Like if you're going to re-design the entire car wouldn't you make the rear flow with the rest of the design?

The rear is actually quite different from the outgoing model IMO... I think it looks more expensive than the last model (and I've seen and driven both). And not sure if its the matte paint, but the car definitely gets more attention than the last car, even when driving down Rodeo with all the exotics and what not.

My buddy at work has one of these. It does look better in person (the matte doesn't do this car any favors...) but it's still a major downgrade in looks from the outgoing model. I will say that the gadgetry is quite impressive. The heated collar is very innovative but as most others have mentioned, the car just screams "I'm retired." We make fun of him constantly because he's 38 and commutes to work in it. The motor is a beast but sadly, the looks are more like Quasimodo.

I agree its an older persons car... But my dad is an older person.
It's always opinion when it comes to looks. But I find it appealing in person.
