have an e350 wagon on order and will be getting a second set of tires (winter tires)

car is black, want black wheels. there dont seem to be OEM options from MB so i am looking aftermarket. here are options for this car from tirerack: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...rSpecial=false

i am new to aftermarket wheel world. anybody have any particular comments on any of these manufacturers? i like the look of the lorenzo wl28s...but...again, i have no idea about the company. any thoughts, recommendations, warnings to stay clear, etc, would be welcome.

We went with Mandrus Milleniums on our previous ML. TunerWorks in Calgary provided them.

Are you using the new wheels throughout the year?

1) Buy winter tires for the stock wheels.
2) Purchase aftermarket wheels for the rest of the year, which brand depends on how much you want to spend, AMG, Vossen, HRE, and Vorsteiner are relatively popular with MB owners right now (my opinion). Of course do your research and there are many other reputable companies... ADV.1 has had quite a bit of bad press with the online community lately.
3) Purchase summer or all season tires for your new wheels.
4) Sell the all seasons that are on the stock wheels to recuperate some $$$

Summary: you now have the stock wheels equipped with the winter wheels and new wheels equipped with all all seasons. You recuperated some money from selling the original all seasons on the stock wheels.

For the winter the stock wheels will work well since they are narrow and my guess is that they are 17s, which allows for more sidewall... less prone to damage from potholes caused by the winter and a little more flex...

we are actually getting upgraded 18"amg wheels as stock (which i'll just run all seasons on) so this 2nd set will be for winter.

was thinking i'd do 18's for winters too. current 'wagon' has just had one set of 18s (stock) for 8 years and has been ok. i'll keep the aspect ratio in mind though to make sure i've got enough sidewall.

If it's just a winter wheel go with the 17x 7.5 inch advanti wheels (relatively light also and tires should be less expensive). They will cut through the snow better than 17x8, 18x8, or 18x8.5 wheels and at $180 USD you can easily replace them...

why people spend money on skinny wheels is beyond me, especially with sky high offsets. for a month in the snow i daily drove a 400whp s13 with 245/35/18 tires on 10.5" et12 wheels in the back (i don't remember the front tire size but the wheels were 9.5" et10). just don't drive like a complete retard and you'll be fine

riiiighhhhtt. they get snow there.

Anyway, FWIW i agree that narrow wheels/tires arent a must for snow. i mean, the weight of the car will push the tires down so they 'cut' through pretty much snow i've ever seen (and i live in Calgary, so get plenty of mountain snow myself, which can be dry or wet depending on the time of year)
