Got an interview but what is .......
Ok guys, i work at a bank (HSBC), I applied for "Senior Branch Account Executive" position for Citibank.
SO.... From what i remember it had a "(sales and services)" after Senior Branch Account Executive. Well my whole thing is i wanted to get into Platform. Sales, like opening accounts, closing, etc... Well somebody calls me today and got my resume and wants to meet with me. So i'm really happy.. But now i go to their website, and it sounds less or opening accounts and more... other stuff. Does anyone here work for citi and know what this job really is about? It says selling loans, insurance, etc... ???? I would really like to know. I got a bit worried when he said "this is...... from citiFINANCIAL"... i'm thinking financial???? My credit card is all good, but it was regarding my resume he got on his desk this morning. Anyway i'm just scared it's a Commision based job and not a salary. Does anyone know more of what that position requires, more than what the internet says?... Please help... Even though i don't meet with him till monday 7/30/04 i would like to know something about this. If you work for citi or any other bank with that title "Senior Branch Account Executive" please let me know what it really is, if it's commision or salary, and do you like your job. This would mean a great deal. Thanks

I don't work in the financial field, but am in Advertising. When the title is Account Executive that usually means sales and has a base + commission. Similar to a sales rep. AE is a very common term in advertising for sales.

the interview is your chance to ask THEM those questions and get a full understanding of what they offer and what they expect you to offer |

My wife worked for Citi. The important thing to remember is that this is not Citibank but Citifinancial. CiFi is a consumer lending group that offers mortgages, auto loans, lines of credit, etc... The position you applied for sounds like a loan officer in one the branch offices they have around the country. The branches are similar to the Benficial offices that HSBC acquired with Household.
Although they are both members of the Citi family, CiFi competes with Citibank in the consumer lending space. CiFi does not consider themselves a bank, and their employees take offense to that reference. They are a financial services organization. The loan officers in the branches take pride in the fact that they service all of their loans and products from end to end in the branch. A Branch Account Executive would be responsible for finding new business opportunities, originating new loans and services, and providing service to his customers. One new factor that is being pushed on all Citi employees is "organic" growth which means you are expected to push other Citi products and services like Smith Barney investment planning. The Branch Account Executives are paid a low salary with high commissions. My wife does say that Citi has a very different culture than HSBC.

Wow thanks for the reply. Loan officer.... I did that before for a mortgage company, but did not like how when i would close deals, that would be just enough to pay my 2 months bills...
Well i'm going to see what the guy tells me. Since it had sales and services i assumed it was platform in citiBANK... and not Financial. I appriciate the time spend in replying to my question. I'll keep you guys informed of what goes on... I just want to be platform (opening accounts, etc..) you wouldn't happen to know what they are called in Citibank would you? Thanks
