A great picture and a little less money than the fujitsu's and panasonics is LG. They make a good plasma but I'd go LCD if money's a non issue... no burning and I think better picture.

Pixels

Another way to compare the two is by looking at their pixel count (pixel is short for "picture elements", the individually addressable areas of light and shadow on your screen). The 720p format creates an image with 720 lines, each with 1280 pixels, so it has a resolution of 1280 x 720. The 1080i format creates an image with 1080 lines, each with 1920 pixels, so its resolution is a higher 1920 x 1080. Denser pixels = a better picture.

When you're shopping for a new TV, remember this: at a minimum, an HDTV television-whether it's a projection television, plasma display, or traditional CRT type-must be able to display images at a minimum of 1080i or 720p. A "digital TV" or "digital-ready TV" or "EDTV-ready TV" that doesn't meet this spec cannot deliver HDTV! You would still get the improvement of digital TV over analog, but you wouldn't be ready for HDTV, which is the future of broadcasting.

Yes your right if you watch TV with it,
Plasma is better but if you play game and watch DVD like me I would get LCD much better in colour

opposite way around boss... Plasma gives better colors due to a higher contrast ratio (usually aroung 10000:1 as opposed to 3-5k:1 for lcd). Plasma is not used by many who have long gaming sessions due to the "burn-in" effect. Speedometers in racing games, ammo counter in shooters, and scoreboards all burn into the screen well after you stop playing.

Long term burn-in is almost non-existent these days, I've logged over 6 hours of Gears of Wars at once with no problems. There are many misconceptions with Plasma displays that date back to the previous generation models. Many units are on their 9th generation, things have improved considerably.

well said... and i love plasma! i own a 50" Pioneer PDP-5060HD, but you would still have to admit, its not RECOMMENDED.

i went on a Need for Speed Most Wanted 6 hour session back in September, then switched to sporstscenter. I was scared out of my mind for like an hour when a had a speedometer stuck over Stuart scott's face! It came out, but according to Pioneer, thus sessions still have long term effects of ruining accurate color reproduction
