Anyone work at a bank? advice please...
Is anyone here a financial/credit analyst or even any AVPs that are employed at a bank? I am working in bank ops in a back office and feel like I am going nowhere. I would like to become a financial/credit analyst, but have very little exp in this field as most of my work has to do with bank operations and less with numbers. Can anyone that works at a bank give me some advice or how you got started? I've got a bit of experience, but not much and feel like it's time to make a move.

Moving from ops is hard but doable. If you want to move toward credit analyst start pursuing your CPA, for financial analyst work on CFA.
There are a lot of people with education/experience looking for jobs + there is not a lot of movement. All banks are limiting new posts and most of openings now are pretty much replacements. Nobody wants to train new people now so you need to have a decent knowledge to get in. Know the ratios, FS, how things change and why, the effects.. Be able to analyze a company and so on. Good luck. |

You want to have an interesting position move to client facing role or learn how to make money. Income generation positions are usually more fun/challenging/rewarding. |
