Should BMW relaunch Triumph?

Well, the title says it all. if you don't know what does it mean, well it's your problem lol. Back in 90's when BMW bought Rover group, they got Triumph name along with some other old British sports car makers.
Long story short, They still have the Triumph trademark. IMO, Triumph's segment is just like Mini's segment, no major competitors with enough potential. a TR5 replacement with retro design and N20 or a more powerful N55 powered TR6 will sell like hot cakes IMO.

These cars were THE cars in 70's. Powerful engine, light weight, no extra equipment, no BS. Just a car, a man ( and a woman bitching about the harsh ride ) and the road. Will be great to see them back!

It'd be interesting to see but I can't imagine them selling all that well. I think BMW would first have to launch Z2 like car and use that chassis across platforms to even begin to justify the costs. The market for 2 seater roadsters is pretty small... and to my knowledge hasn't been overly profitable in recent years.

No they died because BL were an incompetent bunch of idiots.

I think a range of Triumph sportscars would be great, MINI has been a crazy success for BMW so I can't see why Triumph wouldn't work.

Theres plenty of great cars out there now. In the sport coupe/convertible market that would be a tough road. MINI has been successful as a practical premium sub-compact. A true Triumph would not be all that practical, which puts it in the specialty market like Miata, TT, Z4, Cayman, etc.. which is a market full of proven cars.

And if you really want a new Triumph, you can get a 2-wheeled model right now. I have an Thruxton in the garage that is a hell of a good bike...

It's funny how so many people laughed when BMW bought Mini Cooper and now look at how popular they are.

Mini sales are flattening year by year, even though BMW is adding models each year. The next gen MINI will share its chassis with the new FWD BMW. I don't think BMW has the time, resources, or inclination to blow any additional effort on a marginal brand name.

the cars in the 70's ?? i'M not sure if you know what you are talking about! back in 1973 i bought my first car, a used SPITFIRE what a mistake! by far the worse s***box i'd bought in my old life.For sure there was a lot of better car on the market back in the days!
