I've been considering this for a while, but I'm concerned how well it would hold up to a jack and jack stands.

That's a good question. The stuff is very sturdy but the nice thing is I can pop out a square if need be. I think I would if using a small jack or jack stands. Just pop out the square where the stand would go, then put it back when done.

Here's the specs on the stuff:
  • Swisstrax products have temperature tolerances of -22F + 248F
  • Compressive strength 5120 psi
  • Rollover strength greater than 40,000 lbs.
  • Hot tires don’t mark Swisstrax tiles.
  • Swisstrax offers more colors to better match your product.
  • Swisstrax products are resistant to Skydrol, the most corrosive hydraulic fluid we know of, as well as other hydraulic fluids and brake fluids
  • Resists battery acid, great to put under golf carts, tractors, etc.
  • Four point injection mold which prevents edges from curling.
  • Slight bow in middle of tile making for tighter fit when compressed and giving the tile’s memory the best place to return back to avoiding corners curling over time and when compressed by weight.
  • 20-24 connectors per tile for tightest fit allowing car tires to be turned on the product without it pulling apart.
  • Swisstrax has the most material per sq. ft. Heavier tiles that are more durable than others.
  • No more than 3/8 inch gap anywhere underneath the tile to support the most weight even right out to the edges.
  • Supports jacks, jack stands, etc.
  • Swisstrax are made with UV stabilizers so it won’t fade in the sun. Even after years in the desert heat.
  • Non-slip when wet – has the right mix of plastic and rubber compounds so it’s not slippery when wet.
  • Impervious to most chemicals – made from PP, same as your gas tank and bumper on your car.
  • Cleans up easily with sweeping and mopping or use a buffer and soft pad.
  • (We recommend Simple Green® for basic cleaning and Greased Lightning® for deeper cleaning)

Sweet garage! I'll be working on mine next year. I was thinking of using one of those epoxy systems as well that you pick up at Lowe's or Home Depot. Did you put it on yourself or professionally? How long did it last for?

I put it down myself. It was a Duracoat product from Lowes. It looked great when I was finished but quickly started having problems.

I actually put down a gray epoxy coat then went back over it with a clear epoxy topcoat. The clearcoat gave it a gloss finish.

Within 2 months my hot tires started pulling up some of the epoxy. It stopped but was the first issue.

Another problem started to show up and that was with the clearcoat. In the areas that got direct sunlight the clearcoat started to yellow. Seams where I overlapped were especially noticeable.

Then the last issue was spilled brake fluid. I was changing my pads and got some on the floor. It ate right through the epoxy.

So, while the epoxy I used wasn't the highest quality I followed all the directions with the application and had issues that even the high priced stuff may have had.

The swisstrax is some really nice stuff! The painted surface around the edges of the new floor is still in good condition and I may eventually take the swisstrax out to the walls.
