If you had to get an econobox for ~10k / $160/mo what would it be?
Post up. Not really looking for fun to drive, more for gas mileage and reliability.
Am open to buying new or used and also leasing for 24mo or so. I have no bias to any manufacturer or style. What's literally the best bang for the buck in the 10k/ 160/mo lease range?

i like the fiat 500, not sure how reliable it is though. and my usual answer, lexus, though it may be very used for 10k. then again, i once picked up an ls400 with almost 200k miles for about that price... and it was a great car!

Unfortunately, I just can't justify the car payment anymore. Other things are having to take a priority over a fun car to drive.

I didnt mention if you were looking for a gas saver , so I guess you just want something in that price range to commute . I bought a 1997 Lexus Sc400(not really a gas saver) for $2000 with 197k miles, been driving it for 2 years now. Flew to Ma to pick it up and drove it back to NC. My buddy in Ma has one with less miles for sale . I'm flying back to MA this weekend to pick up a 2003 rsx type s for $3k.

Civic SI. Same platform as my old Rsx-S, car was reliable in a lot of different ways. All maintenance was easily done on the ground or with a small jack and stands. Parts are cheap for maintenance, and it will most likely last a lifetime.
I got rid of mine at 177k miles, and I know it still had another 150+ to go. |
