Would you sell a BMW

335is in mint condition in for a 2014 ford gt500?

I'm curious to what you think. I'd have to give them my car plus cash.

Not sure they are quite even pricewise? I guess it depends on mileage on the 335is. I thought the BMW would be worth more than the GT500. I have done zero research on this (maybe I should have started with that).

the grin on your face every time you push the gas will be well worth the swap and parting with your money. 662 HP is amazing to drive and ride along in.
My buddy has a 2013 GT500... thing is a Monster and sounds amazing. He just ordered the 2014 Stingray as well. The Vette will be his "green" car since it gets 29 mpg

Did a limited amount of looking around the web. Seems the base price for the 335is was less than the base price for the '14 GT500. Not by a lot, but a bit.

Depends a lot on packages, mileage, etc.. But yes, it looks like you'd part with some cash for this trade.

As stated above, 662 hp is going to be a lot of fun if you decide to go that route.

As for the Ford vs. <insert brand here> debate, that's for another thread. I will say Ford has come a long way over recent years, and any of their cars shouldn't be discarded just for being a Ford. I owned a F-150 for a while and loved it. Just recently got into the my Tundra. If I really had it my way, I would have gotten the F-150 Raptor, but I didn't want to order one and pay full price. My Platinum Tundra is very comparable, except with a bit of a smaller V8 (5.7L vs 6.2L). I also like my wife's C-Max hybrid.

I'd say you have a tough choice!

I actually drove next to one on my way into work this morning, and I do admit, that is a pretty gnarly vehicle (power wise), but I still feel the interiors are lacking.

Thats a tough decision. If I were trying to race everyone, I would do the swap. Would this be a daily driver? Have you test driven it yet? How do YOU feel about trading out your 3is?

Also, a fully loaded 2014 GT500 is well into brand new M3 territory price-wise. Just something to think about.

To me, it's one of those cars that if I was replacing my baby, I'd want to go all out on the creature features. If you are into a stock car for being able to modify it, then the price is obviously a lot better.

M3 and GT500 are completely different opposite end of the spectrum cars. You have euro vs American muscle. there is just no comparing them no matter how hard people want to try. If you are in the $65k range may as well get the 2014 Vette and stomp them all.

That's why I said price-wise. If he is looking to get into that price range, a whole lot of stuff opens up and it really depends on what experience he is looking for. Since he currently owns a BMW, I figured I'd bring up the M3.

I won't get into the M3 vs. whatever here, unless the OP wanted to take it there. But there's a ton of threads for that, all he needs to do is search.

With that being said, I think there's a lot of fun to be had going to a Shelby, and I think it would be an awesome trade up for a weekend car.

This is where i fell off the wagon. I'm in the market for something new and the GT500 was on the list until i built and priced one.

Maybe it's old stigma, but i have a hard time spending that kind of coin on a mustang. Not saying it's not as good as an M3, as i've never driven the GT500. But for some reason, not taking this forum into account, a mustang seems a little juvenile next to an M3. This is only based on my experience around town, seeing who's driving mustangs and who's driving M3s. Regardless, probably not worth taking that into account for OPs decision.

All other things aside, I would always choose a GT500 over a 335 for a fun car to drive.

The stingray won't stomp the Shelby.

Msrp on the Shelby is $68k.

True for your standard V6 Mustang or GT.

But when the word Shelby is written on it, things change quite a bit

It absolutely will. Not in a straight line, though.

I'll flip it around...I wouldn't swap my mint 540 RWHP C6Z for a mint 335is unless there was maybe $30-40k cash on top.

I'll never track it so I put my money on the Shelby over the vette on the streets.

I would consider waiting for the m4.

Are we talking around a track or in a straight line for 1/4 mile?

The M4 is just an M3 with a different name... Boring... just like the Porsche 911 S with the PDK...

I would say a ~3 second difference per lap is pretty much a stomping!

I actually see more GT500s than M3s in my area. Many, many more GTs than either. You can hear them all before you see them and that to me is obnoxious. Maybe thats what makes me think that way.

If I get it I'd take on the c7 at a red light and stomp it.

The ford dealer thinks I'm going to pay sticker for the Shelby.
