What's the Fastest You've Gone in Your BMW?
Please delete if a thread like this is not allowed.
I asked this question on M3forum.net and thought I would ask the same question here. So what's the fastest you've gone in your BMW at the track or on a public road? If you've gone faster in another car (or bike), what make and model was it, and how fast did you go? The fastest I've gone in my M3 is (don't laugh) ~95mph on an off ramp. I'm only on the freeway for 1/4 to 1 mile at the most, and there are always cars around me. I'm not going to endanger them because of my excessive speed. |

I used to have a job with Lufthansa that required frequent trips to Frankfurt. We had access to a carpool that included a number of BMW's and other things that would do 250 kph and I frequently stayed over for a few weeks and got used to driving on the Autobahn.
One time I flew home on a Sunday, woke up tired on Monday morning, got in my M Coupe and went to work. I was surprised to see a motorcycle officer on the shoulder, looked down in a panic and was doing about 140 mph. I pulled over where he was, explained my stupidity and he only asked to see my passport and let me go. That had Federal Pound Me in the Ass Penitentiary written all over it. That's the fastest I've officially gone in the US in my own BMW. |

152 mph in my second car, an 04' Dodge SRT-4. I then spent 27 hours in jail. I know the 152 mph to be fact because it was in the police report. I could have been going faster. I kept my foot to the floor when I saw the state trooper. Problem is you cant out run the radio. After that incident my cars keep getting faster but I keep driving slower.

152 in a 2002 Jetta, and 170 in a 2001 R6. I don't care to go that fast anymore. I've hit the 130mph limit on this car twice, and barely go over 90mph now. I never hit speeds above 100mph when other cars are near me, if I do it's by accident. I don't trust other people lol.

144mph on the Autobahn during my Euro delivery trip. This was the number from my Garmin GPS, I don't recall what the speedometer was indicating.

If my math is right about 146MPH (235KPH) in the M3 and 128MPH(205KPH) in the 335i...
I took a 135i up to 161MPH(260KPH) on a test drive once...salesman in the back seat...hey he said drive it like you stole it! Amazing how planted the car is even at that speed.

158 on hand held GPS in my E46 M3. Speedo read 167.
Speedo read 178 on RC51. M3 felt solid at that speed. RC51 felt twice as stable at that speed. 155 speedo reported in the E92. As i age, i find it less and less necessary to go faster than 140.

I was a passenger in a friend's 335i going to Vegas when he decided to go 155 in his car. 1) It was at night
2) He didn't ask if it would be okay with me and another passenger Not really an enjoyable time...I think I didn't go over 80mph in a Ferrari 458 italia and that was still my favorite driving experience ever.

185ish... in my 2002 SS. My Speedo was buried so I was relying on my buddy's Speedo on his sport bike. I had quite a few mods done to my car.
