Exclamation I Don't know how to drive Manual **Need Help**

Wasup guys. I need some help. I'm 18 and have been driving auto for 1 year. My first car was automatic and my second car which is my 335i is also auto.

I want to know how to drive manual. It looks like so much fun and it's good to know how. I think im ready to start and learn how to drive manual.

-My dad told me to buy a 300$ honda civic and learn how to drive manual off that. I said no, becuase how trust-worthy can those things be. I want like a game or somthing along those lines to help me learn how to drive manual. I wanna start learning small and then big.

-Can someone refer me to a company thats sells games with a steering wheel with a shifter and clutch. ***PLEASE DON'T POST THAT E92 ///M3 VIDEO GAME SIMULATOR ON YOUTUBE.COM**

Even though im looking along the lines of somthing like ^^^^ that. But I want somthing affordable.

Can anyone help me....

Please dont flame me for this thread.....

Thanx,
///FRO

You're not going to learn from a game, just get the civic.

Can always get lessons *shrug*... though i didn't, just went straight into my first manual which is this car and not too much trouble so far ^_^ a few stalls and mistakes but not much~ don't worry, if ur paying attention it is not too hard. But if you try to go fast without practice then things can go wrong...

+1

Learning to drive stick from a video game is about as useful when you actually get in the car as driving an M5 around the Ring in PGR and then doing it for real. What you learned on the game will be essentially worthless. (Except video games are excellent for learning track configurations if you've never been there.)

Why not learn on a Civic? You seem like you're too spoiled or too good to be seen in a beater learning stick since you're 18 in a $40k+ car. And trust-worthy? Those old Hondas run for 300-400k miles easy. Learn from a game is very laughable...perhaps Initial D?

In all honestly, go get a hooptie, the Civic would be a great candidate since Honda clutch is very user friendly. I wanted to learn stick since I've got my license, but all my friends with manual cars have too nice of a car or too hard of a car to learn on. I finally learned stick on a turbo'd SC300 before my mom's friend upgrade the clutch, and a week later I went out to buy my Evo.

Yeah and if you're just driving it down the street or in a parking lot what are you worried about?

I suggest learning in an empty parking lot at night. This is where I learn since there are ramps and such to practice on going from a full stop on a hill. This is where we've taught all our friends.

For sure, the first couple of days, you are going to stall and perhaps cause people behind you to honk at you, but you will eventually get used to it.

You can look on Craigslist. That's where I was looking at to find a cheap manual car. Or ask a friend or friend of friend to teach you, lol.

An STi will be a harder car to learn in, albeit not impossible. Best of luck.

& to the OP... I don't know what rapped means in terms of the phrase "rapped 2004 SL 500"... did you hit the car with a killer line or something and it fell dead? or maybe the driver choked like Eminem in 8 Mile? I think you meant raped with one p meaning "the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse" (Dictionary.com).

And when your 25 you get M5? @ 29 you get a 911 Turbo? @ 33 you get a DBS? @ 37 you get a F430? and @ 41 you get an LP640?

According to your car history, you rape a car and daddy buys you a new one?
