I guess I'm a little sensitive having received a few tickets over the year for what I feel was ordinary driving, and regularly see cops not signaling, driving 20+ over the speed limit with no lights (that would be "reckless driving" for us civilians) fortunately nothing as blatant as that however.

Those school officers are nut jobs. When my GF was in high school the school officer there ended up having sex with a 14 year old, the school found out and he lost his job. Pretty sure he's in jail too

1. He is breaking the law by holding the camera/phone while driving. I'm pretty sure he wasn't watching the road as much as the recording device.

2. He was following too close to the cop, which would piss anybody off. Yes the cop might have been in the wrong for driving slowly in the left lane.

3. Not once in the video does he show what speed he is doing while stuck behind the officer. The cop could have been doing the speed limit for all we know, its hard to judge speed by just the camera.

4. He jumped over 2 lanes to pass on the right.

5. He accelerated quite quickly and was more than likely going over the speed limit. While the cop was out of his jurisdiction, the guy recording was driving in excess of the speed limit, while displaying road rage and the cop has a duty to protect people and this guy wasn't being safe on the road.

You can demonize everyone who wears a badge regardless of if they have ever done anything wrong, but the guy filming IS also an idiot. And are ALL cops useless bastards, really? How many police officers do you know? Yes some cops do make stupid mistakes, but they're fucking human too. Not all cops are corrupt like in the movies.

And as I said, sometimes cops make mistakes. You don't know what was going through his head when he brake checked this guy. He might have thought that was his only option to slow him down. Road rage is contagious, and cops aren't outside the limits of human emotion. Not every story is one sided and not every ass clown who catches a cop slipping up on camera is a hero.

1; No it's not illegal to have your phone in your hand.

2; He wasn't that close

3; Yes it does he was going between 50-60 behind the cop.

4; So what? And he didn't swerve over, he changed lanes at a normal pace.

5; So what?


It's just as illegal to sit in the left lane without passing as it is to speed, both are moving violations and carry points, only one of them are well known to both cause traffic and road rage. (speeding is not the same thing as aggressive driving, though they sometimes go hand in hand)

Blocking the left lane is well known to not only cause congestion, but more importantly sudden changes in traffic speed, which is a leading cause of accident.

So the best way to protect others and the individual that filmed the incident, is to cause a traffic accident with said individual? That's like me saying the best way for me to protect you from having all of your money stolen is to steal all of your money.
