Speeding tickets need advice!
Alright so the cops here in Richardson are doing some insane speeding campaign or something...don't know what. But i got pulled over for speeding 4 days ago and received a ticket. Took care of that ticket today but before taking care of it, I got another speeding ticket! This time I was almost certain I was no longer in the school zone (obviously I wasn't).
Anyways, did deferred for the first ticket and now the second one is going onto my record...or is it? Should I schedule a court date and see what happens (give the judge my college kid broke sob story) or just pay it and hope my insurance company (USAA) doesn't hike up rates for first-time minor offenses? Thoughts people? p.s. I already know to slow down, but we all drive e9x's here and we know how it is |

Hopefully you won't get too many finger wagers in here. I'd just pay it and let it be. A lawyer might be able to hook it, or the cop might not show, but it just doesn't seem worth it. Especially if you already know your Insurer won't ding you.
Me, I'd just be done with it unless I got busted doing it big in the 110+ range. |

dont know how it works in texas, but theres no point in going to court here in montreal if you don't hire a lawyer. theyll just send you home and make you pay

You got caught, that sucks. Just take it and pay it, then slow down. I hate speed limits, especially in Maryland where I live they're just as dumb as everything else in the state, but sometimes you have to accept that you were speeding and learn the lesson.
Also theres a few apps you can get that will warn you of speed traps. I use Trapster and it has saved my ass a few times. The biggest problem with apps like Trapster is that they rely on user input. If no one reports that a cops is sitting somewhere, you might be the first to see him at its already too late. However you can also be the one marking a spot for a trap and saving someone else.

If USAA finds out about it, your rates will go up. Trust me, they are great with you until you screw up, but no matter how minor it is, they will raise your rates. Ask me how I know, lol...

coming back to let everyone know what i've decided (in case someone else see's this and gets in a bind).
Laugh all you want but i'm going to use one of those traffic lawyers with the annoying radio commercials. 40 bucks and they'll be able to keep it off my record. They actually have a pretty good success rate and will probably be able to reduce my fine amount. |

you could also ask the judge to let you go to traffic school anyway, that works sometimes. |
