iPhone 5 Cable Incompatibility?
As you all know by now, iPhone 5 uses a new Lightning Cable.
Apple is also going to release a Lightning adapter that, when use, will allow an old cable to connect to the iPhone 5. However, cnet.com seems to think that the adapter will not work with BMW's iphone / ipod adapter cable. I suppose if that in fact is the case, then I will have to wait for BMW to make a new $70+ cable to connect the iphone 5 - if it is even possible (read cnet's argument). Cnet.com article "iPhone 5, new iPod, may leave some cars in the dust" http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7...s-in-the-dust/ |

I've always wondered(well at least on the 1 series) why BMW uses the Y cable(USB AND AUX), while others just use the USB by itself. I sure hope it works : <. They showed a BMW in one of the pictures at the event >_>

The charging adapter is 1.3 amps if i remember correctly. So you will indeed need a charger that outputs more amps. Most car chargers only put out about 1 amp or less. Recently because of the iPad/tablets there have been chargers made with more amprage, but if you can charge an iPad off of that "BMW's iphone / ipod adapter cable" if not you'll need a different one. I currently use this 2.1 amp belkin car charging adapterfor my iPad/phone and i should have no issues.
