Punta Cana

Hey everyone,

Planning a short 4 day vacation for my girlfriend and I.. We pretty much decided on going to Punta Cana and want to do the all inclusive packages.

I searched on here and to my surprise, many members have gone and shared their experiences both good and bad.

Any resorts I should flat out avoid?
Any recommendations?

There are about 80 "resorts" in Punta Cana and choosing one is becoming very difficult.

Planning on going early January. Thanks everyone!

Dreams palm beach resort is off the hook!!!!
If you can upgrade to the preferred club do so.
I just came back. Food was great rooms was plush and the service was impeccable!!

I went when I was much younger... all I can say is pick on that has the facilities / activities that you're interested in. My family likes golf and beach so we picked on that had good choices for that. I can't remember what it was called though... too long ago.

The only time we really left the resort compound area was to go deep sea fishing. IIRC leaving the immediate resort areas is not too good. It may have changed since I went though.

Boyfriend and I stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe. No complaints. After a week of being there though, the food got tiresome and boring.

I want to go back.

Thanks for the comments everyone...was seriously considering Dreams as well as Gran Bahia Principe.

How far away from the airport are they? Looking for something close to the airport to cut down on wasted time since we'll only be there for 4 nights.

The resort we stayed at was about a 10 min (??) drive to the airport.

I stayed here too.... Nice resort and good service. Our maid was amazing fwiw - she would fold our towels in swans and other things an keep the room spotless.

Ours did that too! The second last night there she left us a bottle of rum, which I still have to date on our wine rack lol.

Was in DR. in nov. we stayed at Elegance club ( Punta Cana ) loved it...
dont go Riu for DR..
but if you go to Jamaica stay at Riu

I stayed at the Riu Palace in Punta Cana and was by far the best I have stayed in.

Excellence Punta Cana is a great place. Trip Advisor is also a great resource.

Excellence resorts in Mexico are top-shelf. I assume the PC location would just as outstanding.

That was one of the best vacations and resorts I've been to in yrs!
The people are super friendly (they sing a lot, lol) and they spoiled us rotten!
I highly recommend this place! Ask for Arcadio (manager) in the French (all inclusive) restaurant. He will treat you like a royalty!

I don't recall free rum. Probably cause I only tipped well but u tipped amazing lol

Yup, they had games and activities happening by the pool area during the day. It did bring some entertainment lounging by the pool.
Boy do I miss the swim up bar.

You actually swam up to the boat huh? I was too scared to lol.

LOL to her I guess? Before going on the trip we made a stop at a dollar store and picked up flip flops, hair clips, little things like that. We left her one item/day throughout our stay.

Stayed @ Hard Rock for a conference. It was ok, relatively new. If the trip hadn't been paid for, there's no way in hell I'd ever end up there. If you're idea of fun is parking yourself in front of an all-inclusive trough to feed, and never leaving the grounds... By all means hit it. There's MANY places I'd rather be to experience the tropics.
