M5 Fuel Economy
What's the economy rating when in 400HP mode? I figure the ratings posted on the sticker/site are for the 507HP mode? I'm interested because I'd love to get one of these majestic beasts some time, but I'm worried about dwindeling fuel economy as I make my way up the BMW chain here.

400hp mode is not much better then 500hp mode. Most M5 drivers don't leave a certain mode on all the time so it will be very hard to tell. |

I am averaging 19.3 in the 335i with Procede! that's in the city too. Hwy is much better, like 28-29.

I'm not so much worried about paying for gas as much as I am about having to physically go to the darn station to fill up the beast all the time. I don't want to have a car that I have to go and fill up every day after a trip to work in LA from Long Beach. Although, fuel economy is always a concern with the raising prices. Compared to a 460HP Procede V2 probably getting a good high 20's on highway compared to a 500HP V10 getting in the mid teens, there's a big difference. Not to mention the 335i procede V2 wil destroy any of the new M cars in speed. Though, it will never be as sexy as the M car, nor will it have that feeling to it like the M cars.

You don't live in no city!!! (I keed) I average 12 to 13 miles a gallon in NYC can't imagine M5s getting better than 9 miles to a gallon in NYC.

itis depend on the engine cc. liter, block, v or inline? turbo or none turbo, supercharger, weight. every OEM have different fuel economy. Yeesh, that's terrible! I think I'd rather go with an M3, but the 335i is just amazing in the power/efficiency combination. I still would love to drive an M5 around.

If you are looking at an M5 but you are worried about fuel ecomomy...it might not be the right car for you. I mean...come on...it's a V10. It's a monster. You can't expect any good mileage with any car in that power range.
just my two cents
