I never actually owned one, and I am sure you guys have little bit of high standard on cars. Hows the quality? The STI looked really clean in the inside at dealer.

Owned an '05 & '08 STI. Great, fun car. Stellar engine and performance. Feels like it's made out of tin compared to German cars.

I owned an 02 WRX with an STI 2.5L and every bolt-on under the sun. It was a super-fun car. STI's are probably the best bang for the buck out there. Lots of mods (even though they're pretty awesome stock), great community, fun in the winter, the list goes on....my only complaint would also be that it doesn't feel as solid as a BMW when you shut the doors and stuff, but that's a trade off I was willing to deal with for light-weight components.

Oh, they're also really easy to work on yourself! I miss modding my Suby in my garage!

The STI just felt more fun compared to 335i for some reason. Made me smile when I slammed it on 2nd and 3rd.

you get a lot of nice features on the STI for the price...my Subaru was definitley fun. I never got tired of hearing my turbo spooling through my Spec-C roof vent. That was the best mod I've ever done...ordered it from Subaru of Japan and cut the hole in my roof myself. They came stock on the s202's, spec C's, and RA's.

I have an '03 WRX which has been a great car and very reliable too. It's a blast to drive in the snow as well.

I drive a Cobb stage 2+ 2003 WRX wagon. I'm going to pick up my new N55 E90 tonight. I hope I like it half as much as I love that ugly little Subie!

I never owned one of the performance cars form Subaru, but you can really beat on them and they keep going. I used mine as daily commute car when I was putting lots of mile on my car and need something reliable in all weather and it just kick ass and never put penny into until it was like 11 yr old and 120K miles. They are well made cars.

i had an 09 that i just sold great car all year round but blew 2 motors thank god they were warrantied but my freind with an '11 just blew his motor too so idk bout there reliability lately

I have an '02 WRX had it since it was brand new. Has almost 130K on it. Never had any serious issues. I did all maintenance myself including timing belt and clutch replacements. It's a fairly easy car to work on. Mine sits in the garage though as I regularly drive my 335d or 350z convertible.

Cracked ringlands I presume? I don't know how some of you guys say that is an easy platform to work on with its boxer engine. An Evo is far easier to work on than a Subaru.

I currently have a 2006 STI, and have had it for about 6 months. Its a good car performance wise, but the overall quality is just not what I was expecting. The car is loud because of no sound deadening, so highway drives are terrible. Not to mention the close ratio steering, although great in town, is very hard to get used to on the highway. It is a fantastic performing car though, very quick with great handling. Also on a side note, I get 20 MPG on the highway maximum...

I guess fuel injectors and spark plugs are a little more tricky due to the engine layout

idk the 2008 felt pretty much quiet haha, maybe I'm too used to being around HMMV and my car with muffler delete. I don't care much for MPG as long as it gets stuff done.

I guess it's different for every person but I actually like the new hatchback design, while some can't stand it. Personal preference I guess, evo's a good car too but I need a hatchback or compact SUV. And I'm not going to be playing around with engine, I just want to run it stock this time. Just going to get Coils, rims and mudflaps this time around. Looks decent stock.

Owned a '02 WRX for two years, then traded for a '04 STi, which I owned for 4 years until I traded on my M3.

In those 6 years, the only issue I ever had was a 5th gear syncro issue in the STi (100+ drag races needing to go in to 5th gear to finish...5th is a tall ratio....therefore: FAIL)

I'm back in a '03 Subaru Outback 3.0H6 as a winter beater.

I freaking LOVED my STi, they're badass and on the street really really fast. I would still own it however, my car was on it's fourth motor at only 23,000 miles. It got bought back by Subaru and I received almost all my money back. I really do miss it :/

Edit: I had an 08 hatch with whiteline sways, a sparco seat and a harmon motive exhaust.

I've heard the newer ones (third gen) aren't as good. Not sure if there is any specific reason for that, but I don't know much about them anyway.
