As long as you have renters insurance i wouldnt worry. If your scared invest in a gun and start going to the range.
My wife and I have mean aim...years in the Army will do that though. |

what's a gun gonna do when he's not home though? he needs a big scary dog that can protect the place when he's gone.

Dogs work great...guns only get you into trouble if you miss and they run away, thought of and alarm system? Even the ones you simply attach to doors and windows that give of a loud whistle when opened.

Alarms
Dogs Guns They all can be bypassed. You can never keep a good thief out, you just try to deter them from stealing in your house. Sorry to hear OP. I would defiantly get your CCP and go to the range, get some lessons, you will feel more comfortable knowing you can protect yourself. Get a new dog, its the only way to get passed your old one. And MOVE! IF people are killing your dog and robbing you, find a new place to live. |

Guns don't get you into trouble unless you're an idiot.
It's always a good idea to keep one at home if you're not feeling safe (or even on your person if you can get a CCP). If the jerkoffs are ballsy enough, they'll try to do it while you're home so they can intimidate you into telling them where the good stuff (jewelry and small electronics) are... Don't underestimate people, let them underestimate you and take some time and money to train yourself how to react in the event you need to defend yourself (or your family). I agree with E90SoFlo too, the area you live in sounds pretty bad. I'm sorry about your dog, if someone killed mine (purposefully) I would hunt them down and things would be pretty ugly...

I'd be looking into a better area to live.
Mind sharing what sorts of things went missing? Sorry for your luck man, that really sucks, I hope insurance is good to you. And you're right, it is just stuff, that's the best way to look at it and get over it. |

I'm wondering if it was his business (if he owns one) that was robbed since he said "$30k worth of materials". That or he had a hydroponics lab at home.

nice paintings, watches, jewelery. That's where all the money is. this is why I have insurance. I have an 8x10 painting worth close to that amount, can't tell me that is a hard object to walk out of a building with. it's small enough to find under your shirt. and you could easily wear a 30k watch on your wrist and get away. |

also, he might be using the word "materials" as just a cover all word for random stuff.
like "material goods" or a meth lab and hydroponics lab. That's where 3 bedroom apartments come in handy. |

Under the windows, put a piece of wood with nails sticking out.
Make sure the doors are solid and have good locks. Invest in a good alarm system. Thats about all you can do, unless you want to camp out with a gun lol |

You have $30,000 worth of things you can easily carry out, yet you have no alarm on the premises. Confused
