chargers srt8 vs 335???
hey guys!!! i was just challenged by somebody at my work place... it's my 335i vs his charger srt8....i refused it initially knowing it's not a fair comparison.... so then after work he decided to take look at my car and he kept going on and on about the looks of his car... he said that my car looked puny and 'not that great'... that was the last straw for me and i decided to accept his challenge.... we are due to race in the next couple of days... i did a little research expecting the 335 to loose but found out that the 335 can hold it's own against the charger srt... haven't seen any official videos or reviews on both of them going head to head ..... i have a step tranny and usually launch it in M2... any ideas????? anything would be appreciated... thanx.... oh... i'll have videos of it as soon as it takes place!!!

If your car is stock you probably can't pull that one off...those SRT's are 425hp and about the same torque and it's an automatic. If you have a Procede then it should be pretty close.

2007 BMW 335i 1/4 mile 13.6 sec @ 105 mph (Car & Driver November 2006)
2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8 1/4 mile 13.5 sec @ 106 mph (Motor Trend Dec. 05) Even with the 335i stock, it should be a drivers race. By the way, the Dodge Charger is One Of The Ugliest "Cars" I Have Ever Seen! Sorry, thats just my opinion....

what a ***. seriously, how old is this guy? its a dodge. it will probably break before you even race. i suggest starting in M2 as well, since you'll probably have some slippage. and how can he say it doesnt look that great?? its one of the most beautiful cars out there. where in NY are you? i want to slap this guy right in the balls.

Let me get this straight: you are letting a guy who drives a DODGE put you on the DEFENSE in a car conversation??????????????.
Let me guess - he is older, bigger, and/or more outgoing/aggressive than you, and you are sitting back taking his nonsense. A thousand responses come to mind instantly......with "uh, it's a Dodge" being at the forefront. |

I would launch is in M1 power brake it to about 1600 RPM DTC completely off..Shift it around 5300...Don't let it rev to the red line as you will be out of your powerband. In addition if I were you I would make sure I had only like 3 gallons in the tank, and since you have a few days...Do yourself a favor order a Turbo Tuner..have it shipped overnight..And if the above 1/4 mile times are accurate you should be able to walk all over him. If Shiv can get you a procede in time obviously go for that...but for the money and availability I would just go with the Turbo Tuner.
Good luck, be careful..can't wait to see the vid's. I am assuming you are not doing this at the track..so if you are doing this on the streets try and be somewhat responsible..do it off the beat and path.

Actually....NO!
The MSRP of the Dodge Charger SRT-8 is $38,695 and fully loaded I think it is $43,330. So, the 335 can get a little more expensive, but only because you can get more options. The MSRP is about the same.

Yea its funny he doesn't realize we paid twice for what he got. Lets see, 425hp, 45032030 lbft. torque....now where did all the rest of the money go??? His chassis will probably drop from under neath him as soon as he hits the gas.

You both own fast cars. Yours is a BMW, his is a Dodge. You win without ever having to race him on the street like an idiot. Just say no.
And BTW, I just don't get it. Where do you guys work that people come up to you and challenge you to street race? I'm not ragging on you in particular. I mean, this is like the 100th thread where somebody gets hassled by someone else at work about how his car is faster. It's like we stepped into the set of "2 Fast 2 Furious." The whole thing just seems so foreign to me. Maybe I have gotten way too old.

A Proceded 335i would walk that SRT pile. People are getting 0-60 times of 4.5 with a Procede, and 1/4 mile times in sub 13 range. BTW... ask me how I know.
