Wow, I heard about this on the news this morning and they made it sound like they just touched or rubbed against each other. This vid is crazy!

Damn, the CRJ was still pulling into the gate (with passengers inside!) when the A380 struck. It's a miracle that the ground crew wasn't hurt. The A380 is supposed to make sure the CRJ completely cleared the taxi way before passing behind it. That's the problem with building bigger and bigger aircrafts. Most US airports are fairly old and can only do so much to make the airport A380 compatible. Even though JFK is A380 certified, it really leaves very little buffer for error.

i AGREE, but sadly not alot of major airlines are willing to buy it because the a380 is the better choice with capacity and rang. Big players like Singapore Airlines and Emirates have said they will not buy the 747-8i, unless it was for their cargo subsidy.

Yeah it seems Boeing was too late with this one. But I'd rather entrust my life to a Boeing at 35,000ft than an Airbus

Correct. But this is something I completely don't understand. Most, if not all, of these international airlines have 747s in their fleet. The 800 shares many components with its smaller counterpart. For maintenance, it would only make sense to go with the 747 again to keep the fleet simple (~think jetblue, although they screwed up by adding Embraer to its fleet). The A380 only has about 50 more seats than the 800. I think there is more to this than capacity.

Its more like entrusting your life on a safe airline than the aircraft. For me, i will NEVER step foot on a China airlines, i will always try to fly with Singapore Airlines, not because of their great service but because of their safety record and strict maintenance program.
