I'm so f***ing hung over..
I'm new in my development and last night was my first association meeting... Ended up going to a bar to have a couple beers with some neighbors I had met at the meeting and wound up at one of their houses where we drank scotch... for about 4 hours.
One of them is first generation Scottish... the other is first generation Irish... Needless to say, I lost. *ugh* Thank God I work from home and not in an office... It would have been a bad scene today. I'll save you guys the effort. |

I have made the last two hungover at work threads and I am trying my best to not let it happen for the rest of the year. Too much year end stuff needs to get done.

must have drank some cheap scotch, good single malt scotch doesnt have residual sugars, so its almost impossible to get hung over from drinking good scotch, trust me, ive killed many bottles in my day and cant say ive been hung over once from it

Of course, if you consider Macallan 21 cheap scotch, you play in a different league than I. |

Macallan 21 is pretty good, so maybe I've build up enough of a tolerance to it, or maybe if you drink enough (of anything) you are gonna feel like crap the next day no matter the quality

I think I know what you mean, but I take issue with the word cheap. The price of a whisky is not necessarily a good indicator as to it's quality. I can get scotch that is as good or better than Macallan 21 for a third of the price (Aberlour A'bunadh for one). Also, as I'm sure you know, some whiskys are better younger, and some older. E.g. many people prefer Lagavulin 12 to their 16 yo offering. Of course in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

Lagavulin 12 is my favorite single malt. I wouldn't say that I like it better than their 16, but the price premium for the 16 isn't worth it. Same can be said of Jameson 18 and Middleton. The 18 is my favorite Irish whiskey. Middleton is awesome, but not worth the price premium. Sorry OP, for turning this into another whiskey thread. Hope the hangover is subsiding some. |

Thanks, it has subsided a bit...
And it is pure dehydration that did it, not lack of quality spirits. It also didn't help that I did it on an empty stomach. We drank (small pours, but we made it through the list a few times I'd bet) Mac 10 Mac 12 Mac 15 Mac 18 Glenfiddich 12 Glenlivet 12 Dalmore 15 Balvenie 12 (Double Wood) They also had some Lagavulin a a few others.... but I'm not into really smokey, peaty scotches. My God, the thought of even having to smell one of those right now makes me nausious. |
