I have a Lenovo at work and though I get mad at it like everyone does at their computers from time to time, overall it's a very good machine to do business on. I'm constantly running 4 or 5 programs across 2 monitors and the thing has performed pretty well since 2006.

glad to hear that. i did some research on it and what won me over was the battery life and the dvd-rw and all that in a 1.1 inch thick machine.

Hopefully the reliability carries over to their notebooks. My desktop is a no frills raw computing power type of machine. 1 CD-R drive, a shitload of Ram and processing, and thats pretty much it. Everything I access is through a network

There was a 20% sale for these 6 months ago, and I almost jumped on it. Reliable computers, no frills.

I went with a Dell XPS instead.

The IdeaPad is a somewhat watered-down ThinkPad, but still very decent. Like everyone said above, they're very solid machines with minimal frills. If you want a workhorse to get stuff done on, you can't go wrong with them. If you want the cheap-looking bling, buy an HP from BestBuy.

My HP crapped out after 2 years of college. Thankfully, after a graduated. Pretty sure that their service center forgot to put the conduction lube on my fan/heatsink for the motherboard when I sent it in for some warranty work. I remember going online and ordering all this crap and spending almost 2k on it. I've learned my lesson. Ill forever go to bestbuy, buy a $300 laptop, use it till it gets shitty, and get a new one. I had to get a Mac for school. Dont know how to use it. Its a decoration in the living room.

My company just switched from HP to Lenovo and I just recently got an X200. By far the best Windows computer I've ever had - hands down. Good choice!

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I made a great choice. My dad has an HP that died on him months ago due to the video card. I find it funny how it chose to die about a month or 2 right after the warranty expired.

my battery started going 7 days after, i called and they told me and i was attempting to get off but all she did was start at the highest extended warranty and work her way down..."for 79.99 you can call us for a year and ask for our help" i literally LOL'd and hung up
