Corvette Museum/Factory
Who else has been to the Corvette museum and plant in Bowling Green, KY? My girlfriend and I went to see Muse in Nashville this past week and drove up for a day to check it out. We had lots of fun; there are some really incredible 'Vettes and the plant is crazy cool. I'd have taken pictures of the factory but no cameras allowed. Pics of the museum coming soon.
Anyone else been to these facilities? |

I wanted to go to pick up my car at the Factory but my dealer said I would still have to pay the $600 Delivery Fee.
Wait a second here, I pick up my own car and drive it home to NY and still you charge me the fee? Yup. I told them no thanks. its the damn principle. I saw the Discovery show on Builing an Icon(C6 Z06) at Bowling Green. That was good enough for me. |

Back in 2008 my father took Museum delivery of his C6 about a month after I took PDC of my 135i. It was a great chance to compare both delivery experiences. I'm biased but there was no comparison between the two. BMW paid for the hotel, dinner, breakfast and lunch along with the driving school and plant tour. For $600 bucks my parents got a plant and museum tour........... um yea that's all.

It would have been nice but I've seen lots of pics and heard others stories. I looked at it as......I got $600 in pocket for mods. Quote:

My wife and went for the tour a couple years ago on a cross country road trip. Definitely a fun day. Here is pic of the entrance.
The town of Bowling Green is quite nice also. If you have the chance there is scenic drive called Duncan Hines Scenic Byway that loops out into the countryside around town and takes you across a cool ferry (pic below). Beautiful drive. |

I've always wanted to go to Bowling Green and would likely do it if I ever get a new vette. I went to welt before I had a BMW and it was an awesome experience, even as a non owner.

I dont regret doing the Corvette factory really but Im kind of kicking myself for not doing the BMW Welt ED. I've been all over Europe in the 80's when I was in the service but my wife hasnt been. We had alot going on at the time and couldnt swing it. I'll make it up to her in the future.

I'd like to visit someday. I've always had a fascination with Vettes, but haven't owned one since my old C5 in 2001.

We had tentative plans for Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Even had a stop at Nurburgring planned. Im more upset about not being able to do a couple laps at the Ring. Maybe next purchase.
