Exclamation Official photos and facts of the RS5!

Hey guys!

Just found that article on the internet. (unfortunately its in german)
Essential statements:

- RS5 shall be top of the range Coupe
- 450HP
- 0-100kmh in 4.6 WITHOUT launch control
- whole new differential-technic

http://www.classicdriver.com/de/maga...00.asp?id=5385

I really dont think that red suits the RS5 but I can imagine that it might look kiler in white or black.

At the moment, I am a bit torn... shall I be a traitor and go for the RS5 instead of an M3 again???
Your thoughts, please

Cheers

Doesn't look that much better than a regular S5. And it will be a lot more expensive than an M3, that's for sure.

I like it, but fortunately it looks like the RS5 will not be a major jump over the E90 M3 like the RS4 was vs the E46.

The car is beautiful in it's own way, but I personally would not enjoy the RS5s driving dynamics, as compared to the M3.

No idea about the states. But here in Switzerland it will be in June/July. Should be the same for most of Europe.

The RS5 is suppose to rival the likes of a M6 so pricing would be similar or if not more than that.

This is a really sick car but not sure if its worth that money.

Car is lame beans plus its still all just speculation. Others say close to 500hp
And another write up says a variation of teh RS4 engine with 8200 redline with only 30 more hp over M3

looks like the price they mentioned is 77k euros

If thats right, you are looking at over $100,000 for an RS5. fuuuuuuuuuuu

I like the car, I drove an S5 and was very impressed. Im sure this will top it.

But I will be DAMNED if I would even consider paying $100k for an RS5. DAMNED I TELL YOU

S5 was a disappointment to me, even compared to my 335 (stock vs. stock, in terms of acceleration, handling and road feel). It was a solid feeling car though, albeit with a hideous interior (IMHO). I can't imagine the RS5 will be any better than an M3.

I don't know how anyone can bad mouth the S5, let alone RS5!!!!! Hands down one of the most drop dead gorgeous cars on the road.

That never translates to a direct correlation.

Maybe some of our EU or UK buddies can chime in on how much they paid for their M's compared to what we do here in the States

Translated via Google:

For more than 15 years, the RS model designation is regarded as the spearhead of Ingolstadt, technical model program. With the new Audi RS 5 this tradition, as is expected in the relatively new coupé segment between the A4 and A6 model series will be continued. Audi promises the usual PR-Preisungen tremendous power and classic elegance combined with exceptional efficiency. In fact, the engineers of the shares subscribed by Walter da 'Silva coupe has a 4.2 liter, eight cylinder high-revving FSI implanted engine that generates 450 hp at 8.250/min whole performance and provides maximum torque from 4000 to 6000 trips. Almost like a racing engine, the Audi, which will draw closely related with the V10 engine to the front of the R8. Costly modifications to the intake and exhaust systems and the use of adjustable camshafts and tumble flaps in the intake manifold be held responsible on the part of the art for the extra performance. Audi puts the average fuel consumption to 10.8 liters.

With the standard sprint least 1725 kilogram, the Audi RS 5-speed 100-mark after cracking 4.6 seconds, top speed is electronically limited 250 km / h. Opens on request - and against the corresponding surcharge - the Audi sports coupe even up to 280 km / h. Power is transmitted via the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox S Tronic "that enables fully automatic or manual shifting via Lenkradwippen. As in the standard segment, meanwhile, also has the Audi RS 5 over the quick start program "launch control" that emits at maximum acceleration from a standstill to full strength with minimal tire slippage. A real novelty appears to the engineers, meanwhile succeeded to the differential means of all-wheel drive to be: The so-called crown-differential distributes as needed up to 70 percent of the force on the front axle and up to 85 percent to the rear axle. Optionally, it is still on the rear axle differential integrating a sport, to improve stability and grip at the limit further.

Compared with the Audi A4, the suspension has been lowered by 20 millimeters. Springs, dampers, electrical kinematics and stabilizers have also been adapted to the new, sportier requirements. Behind the 19 - or 20-inch wheels, which will be offered the Audi RS 5, can be either the standard vented disc brakes, or using an optional carbon-ceramic versions. Depending on use, the driver can use the driving dynamics system Audi drive select, "the circuit, the dynamic steering and the sport differential voting according to his needs.

Visible difference between the Audi RS 5 of its smaller brethren A5 and S5 by enlarged air intakes, a charcoal-colored grille, new bumpers, oval tailpipes, a lot of details in a matte aluminum-look and flared fenders with sharply drawn top edge, beginning at the first Audi quattro should remember that debuted 30 years ago at the Geneva show. On the highway, the new model also can be at its rear spoiler, which exits at 120 kph to identify. In the interior, depending on the taste or sport bucket seats to choose from. The cockpit is largely in black and lined with leather and Alcantara, optionally you can have controls and mats, but also relate with suede. The inlays are made of carbon fiber. Stainless steel mesh or piano are, however, order the same way. The base price for the Audi RS 5 stands at 77,700 euros. The deliveries will begin in the spring.
