I don't see how this guy could've done that without being responsible for actually setting the car in motion.
If the car's in 1st gear and he didn't know about it, he would've assumed it's in neutral, so the car should've stalled on him as soon as he started it. Now let's say he had his foot on the clutch, car wouldn't stall, but again we're assuming he didn't know it's in 1st gear, so if he removed his foot from the clutch it'd jerk forward and die if he didn't save it... and riding the clutch wouldn't make the car move that fast. Oh well, just my analysis.

Hillarious - the car actually does not look that damaged (lots of scratches perhaps).
I kind of agree with the analysis - that car just took off - I think the kid froze on the gas (no experience driving). |

Kids a moron and had his foot on the gas.
First off, like our cars, you cant start the mustang without the clutch depressed. Secondly, I had an old triumph where you could start it with the clutch engaged and in gear, and accidently hit the starter once. The car jumped forward about 4 inches, that was it. It doesnt start when it jerks like that, nor does it take off. |

Well, even less powerful (like 330i) car is capable of rolling without right foot on the gas once you turn the key My friend did the same thing, thank god he wasnt anywhere near objects or walls. So no accident |

! That was great. My Audi starts easily enough with no gas dropping the clutch... so it seems possible the kid really did just let right off the clutch after starting it.

One of my neighbours did this when she was learning to drive. She shot across the road, down a banking through a garden wall and stopped when she hit the house. She was ok the car was a write off.
