he is a great driver and has acomplished great things in f1 for being so young but i would have liked to see schui win one last one on his way out. schui is the greatest driver ever. that damn trie blowout ruined it. but as long as fernando finished 8th or better schui didnt have a chance. exciting season though.

Schumi deserved the 2006 Championship without a doubt...had he not had car problems in Japan and a tire blowout in Brazil, he would have been the champion....to go from last and finish 4th was an amazing feat...

I'm disappointed too.
Schumacher, whenever he had troubles, kept it to himself and blamed himself and congratulated his opponents. Alonso flaps at the mouth calling his car and tires crappy whenever things don't go his way. I'm looking forward to Alonso getting 10 DNFs next year in the rustbucket McLaren

Congratulations to Schumacher for an excellent race, season and career.
I'm already looking forward to the next season. Finally Kimi will be able to show what he's capable of. |

it was a great race, but I for one was happy to see Alonso win. I mean Mike was great in his last race and definately one of the best racers ever but he was no Senna. Mike was none existant when he was around and even after he died, he took a while to climb to the top with David Coulthard around and other champions around. Let's remember also Senna didn't need a Ferrari engine to win. Not saying that Michael only needed that to win but he's definately not the greatest of all time, Senna will always be in my book.

My brother has exactly the same viewpoint. I don't share it but do agree that Senna was special (I was there at Donington in the wet 93??). Its only opinion about Schumi being the best but there are a lot of stats that support it. Its a great loss for the sport having schumi retire as was Senna's death.

I guess the same can be said for the dubious grid penalty to Fernando in Italy & subsequent failure of his engine. Let's not forget the rule change in the middle of the year for the Mass Dampers, which were legal in the beginning of the year & was used by Ferrari, Renault, Red Bull and McLaren. But Renault's was the best and I guess the little gremlins at Ferrari realised that if they eliminited them, they would be more back on level with Renault. So you know, the FIA and the old Guiser who get special deals on Ferrari's magicly voted and decided to ban the Mass Dampers I guess we can say, that Evil sometimes prevails; but in the end Fair Game, Honesty and the good wins P.S.: Let's not forget Kimi in 2003 & 2005 with Mechanical Failures or little Errors. That's the nice thing with F1 ... it's as much about talent, team work, technology and the brains of the driver on how he can manage his car, his oponents & read the race. |

Schumi did an excellent job.... started from 10th... jumped to 6th, had an accident with the fisi which forced him to pit and start from the back, in the end, he managed to make his way up to 4th.

Congrats to Fernando, he is from my hometown, Oviedo. We had some fiesta last night...
And congrats to Schumi too, he was great to F1. I am a Senna fan, but can't take anything away from the german, his records show. Lets compare Alonso with Shumi after the spaniard retires, then we`ll see it in perspective.

Congrats to Fernando - a deserved winner! However, F1 won't be the same without Schumi. Happy retirement Michael...

So in equal conditions of failures Alonso still finished 13points ahead in the championship. Last but not least, you have to realize that if you put Alonso or Shumi starting last they will finish on the top 5 or 6 positions, the vastly amount of drivers in Formula one are not competitive enough foir Fernando or Shumi. Remember, Shumi started the race with 22 drivers, at the end of the Brasil GP they were only about 17 total drivers, as I expalined before, considering that the middle pack of drivers are just non very competitive you would then expect that Shumi will finish ahead of at least 10 other drivers. By doing a simple calculation and considering that at the end only 17 drivers finished the race and Shumi finished 4th you will see that Shumi did not accomplished such a big deal however I must say he was the greatest of all Formula one drivers. Fernando never had to forced his machine and Shumi had to force his car to its limits. You really need to comprehend how the strategy in Formula one works. It was very very clear that Alonso had the race on his hand. All he needed was a 8th position or better and Shumi had to finished First regardless. Please, weight all the facts, in 2006 Fernando and Shumi had same mishaps yet Alonso pull 13 full points overall. Carlos |
