Skipping gears while downshifting
I was wondering if anyone one here skips gears when downshifting with heel-toe. I've heard the good and bad of both, skipping gears and just going through all of them. People say it mostly depends on the transmission/gearbox, although skipping gears can save some valuable time on the track. Anyone have insight on this?

just make sure youre going to the appropriate gear for your speed/acceleration requirements, and it doesnt matter if you shift down through each gear or skip them.

as long as you match your revs i dont see the problem, i often do downshifts from 4-2 or from 6-3 to either turn or floor it!

Unless your really good at this, your just asking for a "money shift" IMO at some point, especially with the crappy gear box we have

I never understood how this could be harmful unless you're going too fast for the destination gear. After the car is disengaged from the previous gear it is in neutral. Neutral is the same place no matter what. How would the car have any clue whether you came from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to 2nd? Once you've disengaged the gear you're in the same place regardless... doesn't make sense to me that it would damage the gearbox.

Skip as you please. It won't matter as long as you rev match. Although my Acura RSX didnt like going down into third for some reason but that was a specific gearbox problem with that car.
