damn, i would never trust a HUGE wild animal like that...even though you try to domesticate them they still have primal instincts that never go away.

Ive seen this before. The man did die. The elephant was in a "male heat" I forget what its called. The trainer ignored the warning signs and put the elephant through the festivities anyway, and this is what happened.

Here's the article

Twelve months ago horrified onlookers at another ceremonial festival in southern India watched as an elephant killed its trainer.
The animal, which had just seen another elephant go wild, spun his trainer around on his tusk and injured more than 20 others

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
NEW DELHI–An elephant rampaged through a Hindu temple in southern India today, killing three people, including one of its handlers.

Television footage showed the adult male elephant charging through the temple compound.

It knocked down a thatched awning, tried to batter its way through a steel gate and finally trampled a man, kicking the limp body several metres through the air.

Police say the elephant was being used during a ceremony at a regional festival in the southern Thrissur district when it suddenly went wild.

Police officer Jay Prakash says the elephant killed a man and woman, then a handler who was trying to bring it under control.

Elephants are routinely used in southern India in temple ceremonies, often covered in elaborate decorations and paint. Animal rights activists say the elephants are often kept in inhumane conditions.

That's horrible...had to stop watching after 1:30. Reminded me of the elephant attack at a circus in Hawaii. Typically the people trying to save the ones being attacked get killed.

They are so strong. At the San Diego zoo the bars of the elephant pens are huge.

In America this is what we do to unruly elephants, we hang them from cranes.
