Anybody seen stock dyno graphs of the new supercharged B8 Audi S4/S5 ?
Has anybody seen such stock dyno graphs on the Internet ? A link would be appreciated. Just curious about the new supercharged V6 power figures at the wheel.

Aside from the engine carrying over, I wonder if the U.S. spec S4 will have the same handling characteristics? When I was looking at my 335xi coupe I was also considering an S5. Considering that the S5 would have cost me almost 10k more, I was not that impressed with it. The engine is nice and powerful, but its saddled with a car that weighs in at over 4000 lbs. Also, the suspension and steering felt less connected to the road than the 335. I wonder, if when this new S4 hits our shores (if it has not already, I don't know off hand) whether the suspension won't be softened. I don't doubt the engine will still be a beauty.

In the UK if you decide you want Sportdiff you have to chose it along with the dynamic steering system, it's similar to BMW's system but much much better, though you don't get the same steering feel as you would an M3 but from my experience I feel it is better than the 335i.
As a previous owner of a v8 S5 I can tell you that the new S4 equipped with the above is night and day better than my S5 was. It's as close to an RS4 as I have ever experienced from an S model has ever got and that includes cornering grip and believe it or not I think it posses a much better throttle balance then either an RS4 or a 335i. It's the best Audi since the R8. |

I just took the brand new 2010 Audi S4 (just released in the past 10 days or so according to the salesman) for a test drive yesterday.
I posted a brief "review" in another post. But I'll say this: I was impressed with it. The s/c V6 is a gem. The car I test drove only had 88 miles on it and it was 102 degrees out yesterday, so I was riding with the A/C on low and the 160ish pound sales guy in the passenger seat as well. So all things combined to have a perfect excuse for feeling like the car was not "that fast". However, it was pretty darn fast, even in the heat, with the a/c on, with a passenger and with very low miles. The S-tronic dual clutch was sweet too. Super fast shifts. The 6AT in the 335i shifts fast for an auto, but this was noticeably quicker on the shifts, but I did notice a bit of a lag time between the time I pulled the paddles and the time the DSG actually shifted, especially under part throttle conditions. But man the car has great low and mid range power. I actually didn't take it too redline at all (new car, hot weather, etc.) But did take it up to 6000 rpms on 2 or 3 occasions and it was still pulling hard. It felt easly every bit as fast (if not faster) than a stock 335i 6AT. And this is in a heavier car with power sapping AWD. I predict it'll do the 1/4 mile probably .2 tenths and 1+ mph faster than stock 335i. We all know the stock 335i is underrated at 300 hp. I've always said it's truly 315-320 myself. Many others have said it's more like 330. But I've disagreed. Drive this 333 hp S4 and you'll feel that even in a heavier car with AWD it feels a bit stronger. In an apples to apples comparo against the equally weighted and AWD equipped 335xi, I can imagine the 2010 S4 kind of spanking it. The S4's true 15-20 hp will easily be showcased in that regard. Audi also was smart with the engine packaging. They made a "dual" firewall for the car. Safety and quietness prevails that way. I couldn't really hear the s/c whine at all. I liked the "blap" of the exhaust with each upshift too. Sounded kinda cool. But might get tiresome after having the car for awhile. I just read the new E63 AMG has the same sound in it's exhaust. They also placed the brake fluid away from the engine. Which is super smart. This way the brake fluid doesn't get heated up from engine heat and affect braking. The battery is located in the trunk as many cars do now, but Audi took it one step further. It's located BELOW the spare tire in the center of the car. This obviously lowers the center of gravity but also keep neutrality to the balance of the car and over the rear wheels. Smart. But would be a pain if/when you need to access the battery, which then requires removing the spare tire. The interior is standard Audi fare, which is of course, top notch. It's price is fair and equipped how I'd equip the car the MSRP is right around $51-52k. Same price as a 2009 335i equipped how I would equip the car too. The bad news....Audi's leases stink. I turned down getting my wife an Audi A3 3 years ago because their lease rates were ridiculous. Well when I went to talk numbers, things have not changed. They wanted $120 a month more for the 2010 S4 lease than I paid for my 2007 335i (and back in 2007 the economy was doing much better and interest rates were supposedly higher). I was expecting (hoping) for a rate that would be $50+ a month less than what I was paying for my 335i. This was also with less miles than I got with my 335i. They said Audi doesn't "discount" their S models, especially brand new ones that just came out "a week or so ago". So I walked away. But, gotta say guys, if you have the chance, test drive the 2010 S4. I'll be seriously curious to see how this car will perform when pulleys, chips/tuning, intakes, etc start rolling in for this car. With it's AWD launching I'd say easy high 11's car with pulley and tune if the drivetrains can handle 100 hp gains from the pulley and tune. Cheers |
