The R15 is a (turbo)diesel so not a racing/sportscar in MY book. Pug/Audi made 'the rules'.Period.

I'm going to try to watch most of it. I think I did 8-10 hours last year and more before that.

Peugeot fastest in the morning warmup.
Franck Montagny set the fastest lap of the session in the pole position-winning #8 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP (3:26.457), just three tenths of a second quicker than Alexander Wurz in the #9 sister car. Pedro Lamy in another Peugeot was third. Forth fastest Alexandre Premat was the quickest Audi driver in R15 TDI (3:28.6040).

Peugeot are the fastest PERIOD. But traditionally they haven't been as reliable as Audi are and that is what this race is all about. The thing is that Audi have stood up to challenges from all sides over the last few years are always seem to come out on top, though this year I find they will have their hardest battle to date. Should be a good race. Quote:
If F1 is at a turning point and the main teams don't compete next year then this could see an increased interested for them into other forms of motorsport with the likes of BMW, Ferrari and Mercedes returning to factory run Le Mans teams. |

The question is how fair is the turbocharged diesel against non-turbocharged gasoline engine. Remember F1 with two different rules for engines? The current dispute wit FIA is about limit on spending and mainly two rules for engines.

Video coverage seems so piss-poor. You have cars running off or crashing and the commentators talking about something else and then when they start talking about the crash, the video jumps somewhere else.
Sorry, but I guess I'm spoiled by sports tv coverage in the US where the producer works with the commentators and has control over the video. The video feed here seems almost random (or at least being run by somneone with ADD) with not a lot of ryhme or reason. I hoping they recap the major action when they restart live broadcasting on Speed.

It's looking like it's going to be Peugeot's year. Without the testing in race conditions Audi are struggling, all hope for Audi are squarely with the number 1 car.
And with both Astons holding their own with the diesels we might see Gulf colours taking victory once more. Last edited by footie; 06-14-2009 at 04:02 AM.. |

Well done Peugeot. A well deserved win, they were totally dominate on the day, but to be fair to Audi they didn't get the amount of race time needed to fine tune it's aerodynamics or full test the new mechanics.
Can't wait for next year, God willing. |
