Pancakes.
Never have had a waffle that can have the same flavor as a pancake without completely OD'ing on the toppings. IMHO, if you just want to eat the taste of the toppings then eat the toppings. Pancakes go alot further in my book though.

Home made sour-dough waffles, a family Sunday tradition.
The youngest makes a decent buttermilk pancake on the fly (you need to plan the night before for the sd waffles.

Pancakes ftw! While there was a time I would have declared waffles the champion I have since matured and grown in my culinary tastes. Last weekend I made silver dollar pancakes with sausage and eggs mixed into the batter. It was an entire breakfast in one delicious morning cake. With a little imagination and ingenuity the pancake, as a medium, has just about the most potential of any batter based food out there.

I eat pancakes/waffles all the time (well, protein pancakes/waffles mostly)... I actually just busted out the belgium waffle maker to make some tonight, haha. I'm partial to pancakes though since they are easier to make.
