Do you remember the VW Corrado?
The 135 reminds me of the Corrado. I think it was a bad move when VW discontinued the Corrado.
I used to have one which I lost in an accident many years ago. My previous dream was to own a perfect 93-95 Corrado VR6 for summers. The dream is kinda fading away now with my new fly 135. However, when I'm making more money, I might still try to find an old Corrado to start a mini car collection. Any old Corrado fans/drivers here? Isn't the 135 reminiscent of the Corrado? (Even though it was a VW) Maybe I'm just a Corrado freak.

I had a G60 & a VR6 Storm back in the day.
G60 was very tunable & handled extremely well for a FWD. VR6 was quick but not as nice in the twisties as the G60. Before those I had a Mk II Golf GTi 16v which could out handle the both of them! It's too long ago to get a true comparison but I can see some similarities between the VR6 & my 128i Coupe. A sweet 6 cylinder NA engine, great handling (both grip well but are slightly floaty & soft compared to other cars I've owned) and understated coupe body. Damn, I'm missing my G60 now! . |

Yea, I had the G60 too.
What did you do with your vr6 storm? I didn't know they had the storm here in Canada. I just heard about it being in the UK.

Had a black '91 G60. Had a lot of electrical problems but other than that, a great car.

I traded my Storm for a Golf VR6 Highline (I need the extra room) what a disaster that was! Nose heavy, even softer handling than the Storm, creaky cabin, painted wheel arches that chipped & peeled it's paint too easily... Did you guys tune your G60's? Mine had the usual pulley-chip-exhaust mod's. . |

I had a black/tan 92 SLC - it was such a great and unique car. I loved everything about it except the maintenance.
I think the 135i will eventually if not already develop a cult following like the Corrado did, what was once considered overpriced when new, will eventually become a sought after bang for the buck later on and many people want to own 1 of them in their lifetimes.

I hate it. They should have resurrected the Corrado, and built something like 135 coupe.
I used to be a big VW fan. My last car was a Jetta VR6. I am not a fan of the new designs.

Well so far, it looks like the 1 is here to stay.
Can't wait to see the tii. I'll probably keep driving the 1 for the next 5-10 years. If the tii comes out, I'll likely do an upgrade and trade mine in for one. The 1 rocks!

Also had a '90 G60. Did the pulley, chip, exhaust, ISV reroute, all the usual goodies. It was no where near as fast as the 135i, obviously, but still lots of fun.
I will say I think the Corrado stands out a lot more than the 1'er, even with roughly comparable numbers being imported (5k for the Corrado, 7k? for the 1'er). The 1'er can easily be mistaken for a 3'er by a non-enthusiast, but the Corrado? NO ONE knew what the hell those things were, and EVERYONE wanted to know. |
