i5 auto camera initialization upon parking?
My Lucid will automatically initiate the front camera & Birds Eye view wherever I park when there’s an obstruction like a curb. Is there any way to do that with the i5 so that the cameras come on automatically when you park perpendicular near a curb or obstruction? I know I can initiate the camera manually, but it would be nice if it could do it automatically.
BTW, this feature does come on when I pull into my garage, but not when I’m parking outside and away from my house. |

I don't think there is an option for that. The next best thing is to bring it up manually, then save it as an activation point. That way, the next time you are in the same spot, it will come up automatically.

Thanks, Skyking. I was hoping for automatic camera activation during random parking events as opposed to repetitive parking scenarios. So I’ll continue with manual activation.

Doesn’t it automatically come on when you put the car in reverse?

Having the same question as OP. How do you save it as an activation point? I have only seen the option for the Panoramic view, not the composite view with the guides etc. This is for my garage, which oddly enough sometimes has the parking guides open on their own but more often than not I have to manually activate the parking assistant. The manual is way too confusing on this.

I always just activate manually when I need to. If I’m stuck in traffic, I don’t want the cameras to come on thinking that I am parking. They come on while reversing and if I use the parking assistant.

My reading of the owner’s manual is that the only automatic activation is selecting reverse. Otherwise you can manually push the button. This is entirely consistant with previous BMWs even from before a camera was added to when it was only distance beeping.

Weirdly enough, with no action on my part that I can recall, for the last two days in a row it seems to auto activate again as I pull into the garage–same amount of clearance as before and nowhere near an obstacle to fear a collision as the front enters the garage, so dunno what makes it want to activate some times and not others. |

Mike, yes, no problem in reverse. I do have one area of concern about backing. Prior to the i5 I had an i4. When I backed up with the i4 I got adequate and early warnings about passing cars or objects. The i5 seems to be less reactive to these same cars or objects. Are others seeing this, especially those who had/have an i4?
