Do you mean to switch on preconditioning before you get in, or to heat while you’re inside the car? I think you can switch on climatization while you’re inside and then just adjust the temperature as normal, but maybe I misunderstood the question.

I mean during the actual charging period, not preconditioning prior entering. when i charge car at 5% and leave it overnight, I thought car would have a feature to warm the battery to let it charge to a higher maximum.

I think that the battery is only conditioned for DC fast charging not AC charging. Is the car showing that somehow it’s not hitting the target %SOC?
Edit: re-reading your post it sounds as though you’re thinking that you’re not charging the battery as highly in cold weather because of the reduced range? If I’m understanding correctly then that’s not the situation. Your battery is still being charged to the same level as when it’s warm outside but EV’s are just less efficient in cold weather so the range is reduced. Range is an estimated number anyway, so you are likely charging your battery just fine. Last edited by RichardInCA; 12-23-2024 at 01:11 PM.. |
