i5 M60 Charging Issues Since Last Update

Until the update last week, I used to set the car to charge at 12:05am. It worked perfectly every time.

Since the last update....it no longer charges unless I select "Charge Immediately" and then plug it in....

Anybody else?

Yep, this happened to me for the first time yesterday. I was scheduled to charge in a time slot overnight, and it never started charging.

Same here with my IX since the update almost 2 weeks ago. If you unlock the car doors remotely the the charge will start right up every time. Still, shouldn’t have to do that but it works

My e sim seems to be working again so maybe the charge time slot will also start again soon

I always have my i5 set to charge immediately and use my charge point to handle the schedule according to my electrical providers reduced rates over night.

My time slots stopped working after the update as well (eDrive 40). Currently using charge immediately and controlling the wall box schedule instead as the workaround.

Also car is in service for something else so I brought this up. Let's see if the techs can look into it for me.

Anyone still having charge in time slot issues? Mine wasn’t working after I got the recent OTA update. Suddenly a few days ago it worked for a single day. But tried again yesterday and the car won’t charge at the prespecified time slot unless i “wake up” the car.

Yea i figured since all the errors are on my BMW software side, I will set to charge immediately and use the Tesla app for schedules. Last week it didn’t charge and I couldn’t go on my road trip with the ev and had to take the ICE .

My IX50 is charging correclty now, starts in the time slot as set up in the car, the e sim that wasn’t working before is now working also.

So the 2 things that broke with the last update appear to be fixed.

Plugged mine in for the first time since I did the OTA update. Set to charge in time slot overnight, same method I have been using since I picked up the car last November. No luck, it did not charge, disappointing.

I have a chargepoint as well, perhaps will give that method a try tonight.

I suggest we all call BMW genius to inform them of this problem (I certainly have). Hopefully we can create a sense of urgency for them to fix this. If their manual suggest charging the car as close to driving is recommended to prolong battery life, the system that allows us to do that should be working!

Just off the phone with a BMW genius and she informed me that this is a known issue and is scheduled to be repaired with the November software release/update that she referred to as 11/2024, she did not know the version number. She told me it is an issue with the car not waking up once the time slot begins.

I also told her that since the update i physically have to touch the door handle to open the car after it has been idle in the garage overnight. She said it is a related issue that will be fixed in the November software update. Seems to be a timing issue, I usually get home around 7 PM and leave at around 8 the next morning. When I am at the office and have to leave after a few hours, no problem with the car opening as I approach

She was very knowledgeable and helpful and suggested to use the chargepoint to set the time slot as mentioned above.

I called them the day after I noticed the issue, and it was the first time they were hearing about this problem. I gave them my VIN number and they said they will submit this issue for the "backend" people to resolve. They didn't offer me any solutions.

Glad to hear that BMW is aware of the issue!!!

I got my i5 Touring e40 in early September to replace my i4 M50, and this issue has been driving me crazy ever since.

I was searching the web for a solution and found a few threads on the i4 and iX forums about charging schedule issues. However, the symptoms didn't match what I was observing. It seems like people didn't understand how the app works.
