a 5233 lb car vs a 3786 lb one??!! AWD EV vs RWD ICE? i5 is 38% heavier than M4  i5 is 10" longer than M4 The only common thing between them is the brand name

I think it’s interesting to see how the sedan does against the competition coup from a performance perspective. A performance sedan is a more challenging engineering task. Not comparable. But an interesting comparison.
